Greetings

I've seen several videos on how to Open an Inventor ipt in Fusion but none I've found have been up to date. Is there a simply way of doing this? Also, what is the process of opening a few ipt's in their own Components?

Thanks

Vince

Does not work with a personal license.

Greetings

Thanks for your reply. I need to provide you a little more background. I have been a certified Inventor Pro User almost since its inception. About 4 months ago I started to explore Fusion and like it better then Inventor. I have years of projects and I would like to move some into Fusion.

I did what you requested and it still does NOT open in the Component I created, it opens as a New Project instead. Is it possible to create a new project, add a component and bring the IPT into the newly created component?

Thanks again

Vince

The process @g-andresen outlined for you works like a charm if you have an Educational or Subscription Fusion License. The video will show this. I am uploading it to a Folder in my Project in the Data Panel.

<video-js data-video-id="6349756169112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)

Thank you for taking the time to help me understand the process. I've been a mechanical and pyrotechnic designer/fabricator in the entertainment industry X's 4 decades. I've used Inventor for 35 years and it helps reduce my experimentation, however, I want to transition to Fusion.

If you look at the attached Jpeg, it shows an example of 3 IPT Components I've created. This is how I would like to upload my Inventor IPT files, all into separate Components. Is this possible?

FYI Based on what you showed me, when I uploaded an IPT it did not go into a Component that I created but it went into new Project and it showed in the Top Level of the Browser. Am I making an sense?

Thanks

Vince Montefusco

www.imdb.com

In my first video, I added one IPT file to the Data Panel and it came in as a separate component.

You can also select an Inventor IAM file and all of its associated IPT files and upload them into a Fusion Assembly as shown in the new video below. Once that is open I show you how to same each component as an individual component in the Data Panel.

<video-js data-video-id="6349769007112" data-account="6057940548001" data-player="default" data-embed="default" class="vjs-fluid" controls="" data-application-id="" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;"></video-js>
(view in My Videos)

Hi John

I do not want to bring in an Assembly. I want to bring in separate files that do relate to each other, but not part of an assembly. Screenshot 1 is what I've created and after I did what you said, the IPT came in under a new project, not what I've created. If I bring in another IPT it also comes in under a new project. I want all of the IPTs in one project and under their own Components. Maybe this is not allowed?

Thanks

Vince

I have shown you every way from Sunday on the process of bringing in individual Inventor part files to make single components and bringing in Inventor assemblies and saving out the individual components to the Cloud. At no time did I create a Project or a Folder, just components.

Maybe it is time to record a video of what you are doing that does not give the results you desire.

John

Yes you sent me videos and explained the process - Thank you! However, it is not what I am looking for. I have shown you an example screenshot of Component IPT 1, Component IPT 2 and Component IPT 3 in one Project. Each of the Components are not nested. How do I upload, as an example, IPT files (not assemblies) and place each of them into its own Component in a Project?

When you have time, please upload, as an example only, 3 IPT files from your computer and place each of them in one Project under their own Components (not nested).

Rather than go around in circles, if there is no solution, no problem, I will figure out another way.

Vince

I finally figure out how to transfer
IPTs into Fusion. It took a couple of months of trial and error. You can
search YouTubes, but it doesn't show how to exactly upload individual IPT
files into the same project as individual components.

Thank you
Vince
www.imdb.com
