DXF export has disconnected and misaligned lines

Exported DXF has broken/misplaced line/curve segments.

I'm trying to export a DXF of my design for laser cutting. Attached is the sketch view in Fusion 360. From here, i right click the sketch (frame:1 / Sketch1) and choose Save As DXF.

The resulting DXF is attached (viewable here: http://autode.sk/2zaxLbb ). You see misalignment between arc ends, and non-horizontal/vertical lines. The same issue is seen if i open the exported file using DraftSight, and the laser cutter software.

F3D file is attached.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Fusion 360 community!

I'm not having any trouble creating a good dxf from your f3d. See the attached dxf file, exported directly from your model as you describe. When inserted into Fusion 360, it looks good.

Is the broken dxf one that was first exported, then opened, and then saved using another software?

Do you get the same results if you insert the dxf you export back into a new Fusion design?

Indeed after restarting fusion 360 it produces correct DXF files again. This has occurred to me before also on a different computer, and I suppose it is some software bug that kicks in after prolonged use of the software.

no other sw is involved in creating the file.

Please let us know if it happens again. If you can repeat it, it's likely other customers see it too. If anyone reading this has had a similar experience please chime in, I would like to hear from you to hopefully set about reproducing it and thus fixing it.

I also have the problem of disconnected and misaligned lines when using export to dxf. It did not help to restart Fusion and export again.

The sketches for dxf-export are in component "sketches", the sketch names contain _dxf

Yes it was fixed in the June 2019 update.

(ref FUS-50244)

Please first verify you are using current production , it's build 2.0.9937. Found in Help > About.

If so, please send a design I can use to reproduce the issue. I'm happy to reopen the ticket or make a new one. Please list your workflow steps to produce the DXF, that's critical to testing it.

My apologies for not following up in June of 2019 when we fixed the problem you reported. As you can see, the design you gave us is working well in the current release build of Fusion 360. At this time I am not going to reopen the old case because it's fixed.

Every sketch in original design exported as dxf and then reimported to Fusion

However, I'm concerned that you say it's not fixed. Do you have other examples to share? Glad to take a new look.

Thanks for the quick response. Since your message I have done a bit more testing and I think the issue is actually with Adobe Illustrator and not Fusion. Opening the DXF in AutoCAD proves the lines are intact, it is actually the place command in Illustrator which causes the issue.

For the benefit of anyone coming across this issue (with Illustrator) If you open the file as a new file (as opposed to place) then the lines are intact, if there are curves you may find them jagged, in this case highlight the model and go to object>path>simplify. This will smooth out the curves.

I've found this thread via google in 2025. It hasn't been fixed.
Make sketch; File; Export; Type, DXF; Import DXF elsewhere; find that one continuous line has been broken into pieces.
Save project
Restart Fusion
Export again
Continuous line.

So, not fixed in 2019, but there is a workaround
