New fusion 360 user - thank you for such a terrific product!

Having an issue where i _frequently_ get "hangs" that pause my entire system (can't alt-tab to a browser, for example). They last about 5-10 seconds, and happen frequently when dimensioning a sketch, for example. super frustrating and interruptive. Also happens with Fusion 360 in the background, as with when I was first typing this email in Chrome. Now I have closed Fusion 360 and all is right again...

Does not SEEM to be associated with complicated models, as mine are relatively simple for now, and it started happening right away with a new model, in my first sketch today. It did not happen when I first installed F360, but is happening more frequently now (after a few weeks' of use).

Windows, Dell XPS 9550 laptop (16 GB, i7-6700HQ @ 2.6GHZ), NVIDIA onboard graphics GTX 960M, running external monitor @ 3840x2160 @ 60hz. System is not "slow", it is being "hung".

Yes, i have all the latest software / updates, etc.. Is this a common F360 issue, or can you advise? What info can I provide to assist. (Not sure crash logs would show anything - it is not crashing... it comes back after a few seconds).

Thanks!

Crosby

Hi @crosbyg,

I'm sorry to hear that's happening! Can you check in the control panel to see how much CPU Fusion eats up with just a blank design? Also, just to double check, can you please make sure your graphics driver has been updated? The freeze/hanging behavior you're describing can happen when the NVIDIA nView Desktop is in conflict with Fusion 360.

Will check on that, thanks. Still happening after closing fusion. Appears related to display-port driven external monitor. Deteriorated to unstable system, after plugging in/out a few times (windows key unresponsive, blank desktop). Restarting and will try again later.

Not a CPU issue; task monitor/performance monitor shows usage in teens.

Will get more deets when I return. Thanks for suggestions.
