So you started a drawing from a part and decided to scrap it and start again. No problem. Close the drawing, right click the item in the data panel and select delete.

NOT!

No...it is in use....well no it isn't. So you go to the web page of the drawing and try to delete there. Eww...New message. Data is in use or relationships exist on selected data.

Relationship...of course. Delete that too.!?

So what you have to do is open the drawing and delete the component from the drawing browser, thereby manually deleting the relationship. Now save it and you can delete it.

First are you talking about a drawing or a model, I think you're talking about a model. Assuming that's correct if you have relationships to other designs and the model you're trying to delete have version history you can end up with relationships to old designs in your version history. Unfortunately there are no tools for deleting versions from version history so the only workaround is to use Save as and create a new version of your top level design, delete your old top level design then delete and designs no longer needed.

One slightly cleaner way of doing this is to download your top level assembly using the online dashboard, this will give you a f3z file with all the designs used in the assemble. Now create a new project in Fusion and upload the f3z file then delete the original project using the online dashboard. Personally I'd avoid using external designs if you can and design all components in one model, Fusions tool for working with linked designs are not that good as as you've found not easy to untie links later in the design.

Mark

Edit reading your post again I'm still not sure if you're talking about a 2d drawing or a 3d model. If you're referring to a 2d drawing I've never seen the problem you have. The 2d drawing is at the end of the chain so to speak so you should be able to delete no problem. Can you attach some screengrabs of what you see in the data panel and dashboard. Use the Photo icon to upload the pictures, don't attach as viewing attached images doesn't work on the forum anymore.

Well if it's a 2d drawing then it should be no problem deleting as there are no dependencies on a 2d drawing, as far as I know you can't insert a 2d drawing into another design\drawing. Can you make a screencast demonstrating the problem because for me I can create and delete 2d drawings without any problem.

If your having trouble deleting a drawing when it tells you its "in relationship with another part", make sure you update the drawing link between the model and the part to the latest version by pressing the Icon (Looks like 2 chain links) in the upper left corner of the program in drawing mode. The file should now be deleteable.

I attached a snippet below so you can see the button.

This happens when you edit the part you made a drawing for so the program thinks theres new features to be added to the drawing.
