Hi.
My son was working on the one hour lamp practice and called me telling me he had trouble inserting canvas.

When I tried later there really is a problem.. And not just with this.

But with this as example:
I open the insert canvas tool, select plane and then clicking the load image button.
It doesn't open any explorer and the button turn gray again.
The plane I selected keep on being selected (blue) even after closing the tool.

This problem is everywhere! Can click on some things but most things don't react.

I have tried reinstalling fusion-360 completely with no effect.

What to do?

I just tested this on my Macbook and it seems to be working okay. Is the image file really large?

Can you try the suggestions in this article?

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Fusion-360-interface-does-not-work-correctly-after-you-disconnect-from-secondary-monitor.html

I'm wondering if you connect to a docking station with an external monitor on occasion.

I hope this helps! Let me know either way.

My offhand guess, without more information, is that the dialog for the canvas file is there, but is where you cannot see it, or is behind Inventor. Can you try the "Reset to Default Layout" command here:

Just by the way, have you ever used an external monitor? Sometimes dialogs can get lost if you have used an external monitor.

I'll try those things later today thank you.. However I don't have a laptop at all.. So the external monitor issue might not be it?

Also.. The canvas was only one example.. It is like fusion crashes after using a function that doesn't work.. Can't get back.. Need to restart.. Can't select or deselect a plane or surface after trying to use for example canvas..

Can you post a copy of the DirectX diagnostics from the computer?

Launch %windir%\system32\dxdiag.exe

Select Save All Information

Please reply with the resulting *.TXT file attached

What happens if you disconnect all but 1 monitor and then restart Fusion 360?

Everything looks good in the dxdiag. Have you tested disconnecting some of the monitors to see if it helps?

If you haven't yet done so, does restarting the computer help?

There could be a background interference like anti-virus software interfering with the normal operation. You may try temporarily disabling or adding an exception in your A/V software.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Configuring-anti-virus-software-for-use-with-Fusion-360.html

Have you installed anything since the program was working and then stopped working? You might look at the install dates in the programs and features in the control panel to see what was installed recently. Those may offer some clues.

I hope this helps!

I have a WIN10/Ryzen 7 1700/ GTX1060x and the insert canvas functions all do not work. When you click to browse for a file, the directory dialog box simply does not open.

Hope this helps. It happens with all the insert photo file options. May just be a simple UI issue with the WIN10/AMD/GTX pairing.
