Hey Mike,

Thanks. I don't know what's going on. I can't seem to click on a side after selecting the Fillet tool from the Sketch menu.

I've added the original .STL file I'm loading into the Fusion 360 cloud to this post as an attachment, for the reason that I maybe doing something wrong during the upload.

Don't worry if you mess this .STL file up, I have a million backups of it locally, you can destroy it freely.

I made a .jpg of where I'm trying to place the fillet (it's an identical fillet to another in the same model as the .jpg shows.)

Hi all,

I donwnloaded the trial of Fusion 360 and am seeing whether it is for me.

I'm trying to add a fillet between 2 planes on this model but I can't seem to be able to. Nothing is happening when I click on the shape.

Can someone help?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Fusion community!

I'm sorry, it is just a little difficult to tell what you are trying to fillet from the screenshot you had provided. Would you mind recording an Autodesk Screencast outlining the issue? In cases like this, a video is worth a million words, and it would be useful to see the picks and clicks that you are making, just to ensure that there are no issues with your workflow.

Would you also be able to share the design? The article linked here describes the various ways that you can share your designs to collaborate with others. For the purposes of troubleshooting this issue, I would recommend exporting a local archive of the design. This will allow me to download and make modifications to the design here on my end while leaving it intact within your project.

Thanks in advance for the information! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns - I am always happy to lend a hand!

Cheers,

Hi @Anonymous,

An STL file is a mesh based file. Fusion is a solid modeller. You'll need to convert your mesh to a solid before you can operate on it with solid modelling tools.

Can you get a version of your truss in different format - Fusion will import files from most Solid Modellers as well as STEP and SAT etc

Alternatively, If you have the mesh environment beta module loaded (Look under your preferences) you should be able to convert the mesh to a brep, then a T-Spline.

However, you'll get a better result if you just use the mesh as a reference and re-model the component directly in Fusion (It might be quicker too!).

I don't want to build this entire thing again. I just wanted to replicate a fillet that I already had on the model.

I also have the file as an .svg and an .obj ?

Sorry @Anonymous, These are all Mesh file formats.

Would you be better off with a program that is dedicated to mesh file editing, such as 3D Studio Max, or even AutoCAD?

Before I create this model for you (actually, I already have it done), can you explain a bit about your software due-diligence evaluation process that does allow for time to go through the Tutorials?

If you like, sure.

My primary constraint at the moment is running on a Compaq 6910p laptop with only 2gb of ram and an Intel 965 Express GPU. AutoCAD will not run on it. Fusion runs but complains about outdated graphics hardware (no newer software unfortunately exists at Intel). Even Fusion sporadically renders the model invisible (same as background grey color). Changing the display type and render options in Fusion do not solve the problem. Selecting and deselecting the model sometimes causes it to render.

I found out that I missed that fillet on the model after getting rid of the main workstation. My only recourse at the moment was hoping a "lighter" program like Fusion could help me or asking another member for help.

My guess is that you probably qualify for free license (hobbyist) of Fusion.

I think maybe you should be evaluating the purchase of a more modern computer.
