topic How do I edit Sketch offset direction? in Fusion Support Forum

Very quick question, I've created a very simple sketch, just a rectangle, and then I use the Offset command to create a smaller rectangle within it. By mistake, I initially created the offset to produce a bigger rectangle. When I went back into the sketch I was still able to edit the offset dimension, but it doesn't allow me to type in a negative value (so as to get the offset to appear on the other side of the original shape. Is there any way to do this?

The other thing I don't understand is: what is the difference between an offset dimension (arrow with just one arrow head) vs a regular dimension with two arrow heads? If I create the two "concentric" rectangles manually (i.e. without using the offset command), and later I decide that I'd like the inner rectangle to be offset from the outer one, is there anyway to apply the offset constraint a posteriori? I mean, I notice the offset constraint appears is represented by a sketch geometry geometry constraint icon, but there is no way to manually apply this constraint as it's not in the Sketch Palette:

Thanks!

OK I figured it out, got the hint from this article: Offset sketch entities

It goes like this: First, delete existing offset dimension. Once deleted, the offset constraint remains in place, but the offset can be resized manually by dragging the offset entity, thus the entity can be dragged to the correct size of the original entity. Then, right-click the offset entity glyph and select Add offset dimension from the context menu, boom, done.

Hello @Scoox

Maybe just a bit off the topic but, we recently implemented Edit Offset feature which means that you can double click the offset glyph and edit all the inputs for that offset including selected entities, dimensions and flips.

Please give it a try and let me know if you have any issues or concerns

Thank you
