Problems with importing svg file

Tried to duplicate YouTube video showing steps to

import SVG file for engraving programming practice. Tried other files also. Keep

getting unsupported info error. Have line text engraving project this week.

Thanks for posting! This error message usually occurs when an inserted SVG contains an image file but no entities. A workaround for this behavior has been published in this article - please let me know if inserting the SVG as an attached canvas helps.

Hello Paul,

Attached file trying to convert at online-convert.com conversion attempt. svg was removed from reply. svg only contained 521 bytes. I was duplicating steps from youtube video.

wanting to avoid using the canvas feature and the tracing. could you recommend a converter possibly.

Thanks for posting! While the workaround I know best is to use attached canvases and trace, you could try using Inkscape as a converter. This procedure may be helpful.

EDIT: While I don't generally like to use SVG conversion tools (they can create geometry with many small line segments, arcs, points, etc that can slow down performance in Fusion), I found that PICSVG.com did well with your file. I have attached the Fusion design created with your file to this post - we can't share SVG files on the forum. Hopefully this helps!

Hello Paul,

Making progress. SVG imported and applied both trace and engrave. Now looking for stick font that I

can use to engrave text on parts. Have used Fusion font ok.

Hi @Anonymous

There are some limitations with single line fonts - the dev team is aware of these issues and will be working to add more single line font options into future updates of Fusion. This has been discussed a bit at this link.

While this is addressed, using the CNC Vector font at this link (cnc_v.ttf) should work, provided you are working on Windows. Unfortunately, there are some limitations for single line fonts on the Mac that also exist - these issues should be resolved in an upcoming update. You could always try using Inkscape to work around this issue as well and then insert an SVG into Fusion.

I had similar problems with svg files that I had saved in Adobe Illustrator. The easy fix for me was to open the files in Inkscape and save a copy, and these files are fine.

The original error message said "The SVG file is invalid. Validate it before opening." The ironic thing is that after saving a copy with a new name, the original files will now open in Illustrator.
