Cannot delete file from project

I uploaded an Inventor File (assembly) into a Fusion 360 project of which I am the Admin. File now has a red dot next to it in the Fusion Dashboard with a comment that the file is "in use by" me & I cannot delete it.

How can I remove the "In use by" lock on this file?

Hi @Anonymous,

Did you open this file in Fusion by any chance, or was it all done through A360? Also, if you try to open the assembly file via A360, does it fully render, or is it still processing/creating design data?

James,

Hi. No, it was all done in F-360. I used the "Upload" button at the top of the F-360 browser.

Everything else was normal - I could render, make changes, etc.

Made a short video (through Camtasia) as a test to see if Camtasia would record Fusion screen properly.

Deleted the video from Camtasia, but could not delete file from F-360 when I was done. Said it was in use by me.

Hi @Anonymous,

Try this:

Open the file in Fusion 360
Close Camtasia (ensure from Task Manager)
Make a small change so the file is "dirtied"
Save the file
Have your data panel open
- The spinning circle will show the file saving
Wait until the circle is done
Close the file, not Fusion
Open A360 (if you are already on the page refresh)

Does this issue go away?

James,

I will try that as soon as I download & install A360 again.

Meanwhile, I think I found a workaround.

I created a new folder in the F360 project & moved the offending file into it, then deleted the new folder. All gone!

I don't know if that's the proper way to remove a file that is "In Use" by what F360 thinks is another person, but it worked.

I'll reload the file & try you method & let you know the results
