I'm troubleshooting a model that is having some difficulty exporting from Fusion. In looking through the timeline, I've noticed that all fillet operations when clicked on in the timeline, highlight in the typical blue, except for one. When I click on this one, it highlights in red, which I haven't seen before. There aren't any errors, so I'm wondering if this means anything.

I can send the file in question, but it would need to be sent privately due to a NDA.

Hi @mcramblet

Thanks for posting! It looks like you may be receiving an error in your design timeline in Fusion 360.

Timeline errors are shown with red boxes, and you should be able to review the error by right-clicking the icon and selecting "Review Warning." With that said, it seems like you may be experiencing some odd behavior - I noticed I cannot see your design timeline in the video you posted. Do you see it on your end?

It also sounds like the icon may not be shown in red until you select it within the timeline - is this the case? Errors of this type should be shown in red all the time - not just when the individual feature is selected.

If you use the Modify > Compute All tool (shown below), is the error resolved?

As it seems that there is not truly an error occurring with the feature being shown in red, I would also be curious to see if saving the design, closing it, and reopening it resolves this problem behavior.

Hopefully this helps! Please feel free to share a password protected link of the file (be sure to let me know the password!) in a private message to me - I'm happy to have a look!

There definitely are no errors in the timeline. All operations appear to have completed with error:

The file has been saved, closed, reopened and even saved as a new file, all with this showing up. I have refined this file and adjusted some fillets that seem like they were contributing to some hang-ups when exporting to STEP files, but in that cleaner file, this particular operation still highlights as red. I'll PM you links to the two files.

As the timeline is showing no errors and the model appears clean, I am inclined to say this may be a visual error that can be ignored. I can confirm this after having a look at the file.

Hi @mcramblet

Thanks for posting! I had a look at the files you attached and found that the behavior was not present on my computer - all features in the design timeline highlighted blue rather than red when I tested both files on my end. Because of this, I believe this is a cosmetic UI error that is not showing a real error in your design - everything looks clean to me.

Looking at your screenshot (and the missing timeline in the screencast), it does appear that you are working on a high resolution monitor. Do all your screencasts omit the timeline?

Moving forward, there may be a few ways to clear up this visual error. I also feel comfortable saying it could be ignored.

If you download a new copy of the file and re-upload that to your data panel, is the red mark shown? You can download a new copy through the same link you sent me.

Do any of our performance tips for working with a high resolution monitor resolve the problem?

I've seen some visual timeline issues removed by toggling full screen mode - does this help at all for you?

Hopefully this helps! If you are working on a high resolution monitor and see this behavior occur in any other files on your system please let me know and we will get a bug logged with development. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

To be clear, the fillet icon in the timeline has been highlighting correctly in blue, it's only the highlighting on the feature of the actual model that is showing red. I'm use to seeing both the timeline icons and the highlighting of the features on the model to be blue. In the case of these models, only that one fillet shows red and only on the highlighted features on the model. That's what I thought was odd.

Yes, I have a high resolution monitor attached to my laptop. Which, by the way, that one particular fillet (on the model) highlights in red with either the hi-res monitor or the laptop display.

I've downloaded one of my files and uploaded it back into Fusion and that one fillet still highlights red.

I'll look through the document about high res monitors and see if that clears anything up.

Hi @mcramblet

Ah...I see. The actual model features being highlighted red is expected - when certain appearances are applied to a model, the highlight color when the features are selected from the design timeline is often shown as a darker hue of the appearance applied to the model. With your model, I see all the fillets are darker red when I select them.

To clarify - this is certainly a cosmetic issue - the highlight color does not indicate any model errors.

What if you re-apply an appearance to your model? If you apply a new, different color of appearance, how to the features highlight?

As this is a cosmetic issue, I would simply ignore it in this model. We apologize for any inconveniences this may cause. If you do see this behavior occur again, please reach out and we will look further into this behavior. I'll keep an eye out for future reports - thank you for bringing this to our attention!

@paul.clauss-

Interesting, model feature highlighting has always been blue. Every model, ever since I've starting using Fusion 360. This one model was the first time Fusion ever shaded the highlight a darker version of the model color, and then only one of the features, while everything else was the expected blue. It's never mattered what appearance was applied, feature highlighting has always been blue, except this one model in this one feature. Weird.

And for whatever reason, on this odd day, I can't seem to get screencast to work properly. So the following doesn't again show the timeline nor is it even showing the Fusion window correctly. Anyway, this shows all model highlighting being blue, as has been the case for 2 years now, except for this one feature on this one model.

Hi @mcramblet

Thanks for the response! The expected behavior is that the highlight color from the design timeline may change based on the applied appearance, so this does seem to be an odd issue. Perhaps it is time for a fresh installation of Fusion 360? You could always try a clean uninstall/reinstall to see if anything changes. I will be keeping an eye out for other reports of this behavior - I do not believe anything with highlight colors has been changed recently.

Screencast was updated recently, it could be that you are working on an older version of it. Updating Screencast (more information here) may help - I would also recommend reaching out on the Screencast forum if you continue to have problems with window positioning.

UPDATE: After closing and reopening your design, I found I could recreate the behavior with one fillet being shown in red and the others in blue. I have logged a ticket with development about this behavior.
