Hi @subversivespeed

Thanks for posting! It looks like you are having some problems with mirroring a mesh body in Fusion 360. Would you mind posting the video again? It does not appear to have gone through.

In my testing, I found that mesh bodies cannot be selected to be mirrored, either in direct or parametric modeling modes. This thread states that mirroring mesh bodies is not supported in Fusion, which is what I would expect. It sounds, however, like you have been able to mirror the mesh with odd results. The linked thread includes instructions on converting the mesh to solid bodies, which I believe you will need to do to mirror the mesh body.

Would you mind sharing the video and your file with me? I am happy to have a look!

Go to 40 sec and the mirror sure does work, at least in preview!

Would be awesome if they simply fixed it so it would stay that way! 🙂

Hi @subversivespeed

Thanks for posting the video. I believe that mirroring mesh bodies is still technically not supported by Fusion 360 (we have a few open tickets on this - FUS-23580 and FUS-16315), and I have been unable to maintain the selection of the mesh body after entering the Mirror dialogue, even when reproducing the steps in your video exactly.

Would you mind sharing the design you are working with so I may have a closer look? I would be interested to see if I;

Am able to select the mesh for mirroring as you did,

Receive the same results as you did.

If you'd like to keep the design private, please direct message me a link to download the file.

As the option to mirror meshes in Fusion is not technically available at this time, it may be difficult to work around this without converting the mesh to a solid or surface body, as discussed in my previous posts.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

EDIT: I was able to recreate the behavior you are experiencing by inserting a mesh, dragging it into a component, and then selecting and mirroring it. I have added the poor results (which were similar to the circular pattern results you experienced) to a new ticket for our development team (FUS-37720). Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

While this issue is investigated, I think the best workaround will be to convert these meshes to solids for mirroring, or mirror them in the source program, if possible.
