Have you checked to see if the middle mouse button works in other applications? There seems to be a big rash of people's middle mouse button dying here the last little bit.

A simple test would be to go to a website, middle click, and see if the scroll widget pops up. If it does, your mouse button is working. If it doesn't... well... try another mouse just to see.

If anyone else is Plagued with this problem, they know how frustrating it can be. I found the SOULTION.... but first, my problem. It all started Monday, when I logged into fusion to do some doodling. I noticed that whenever I clicked to orbit a little plus (zoom) symbol appeared. It turned out it was just a "setpoint" setting, that was set "center botton 3" zoom instead of "center button".

1. use a local search to search setpoint.

2. change settings

3. enjoy

I'm on a Mac, and I had no luck with a return of "setpoint". I'm not sure I know what you mean by a "local" search; local to the OS? Fusion 360?

What he is referring to is:
1. Click on the orbit icon
There will be a "plus" or cross-hair in the center of your screen.
2. Move your mouse and click on the cross-hair (that plus ;-)

That's it. Press escape to exit the orbit mode and all works fine.
At least for me it did.

Do find it strange this sudden change in behaviour somehow happened during normal operation and I do not know how...
Anyway hope this helps!

Cheers!

Hi piotrowski12

That is too bad my advice did not work for you.

It did work for me, I had the same issue with my Logitech Trackman (which is actually an ordinary mouse).

Since my mouse does not require any specific drivers I figured your issue is the same as mine.

In any case I would then advice to:

- test Fusion 360 with another mouse device (make absolutely sure it is not a mouse and/or -driver)

- uninstall Fusion 360

- check your mouse driver software, if necessary reinstall and test your mouse functionality

- install Fusion 360 again

Again, hope this helps!

Cheers!

@Anonymous Thanks for your great community support.

@piotrowski12 Don't uninstall Fusion just yet. Let's try some other things before making that leap.

First, restart your computer. The problem is likely a driver issue.

If it were a general Fusion problem there would be thousands of people complaining about it. So the logical conclusion is it's an issue local to your machine. This means it's the physical mouse itself, or the drivers, or your machine is in a state where the mouse drivers aren't working correctly. So you should eliminate your local conditions first before reinstalling Fusion. Fusion simply reacts to the input your machine is giving it.

What model of mouse are you using? Have you tried another mouse? Are you on Win or Mac?

Thanks,

Actually, what is being referred to here is the Logitech application called "Setpoint" and by local search it means windows start button search bar, type setpoint to open up the Logitech mouse settings app. Actually for me this then crashes but after it does the mouse behaviour was as expected!

Thanks for posting. I've heard good feedback about the more recent Logitech drivers, but I don't have such a mouse to test it myself. Definitely if you have a Logitech mouse, update all the drivers and software to the latest version. Let us know your experience.

Hardware driver behavior is not entirely within control of Fusion 360, but we can always try to make it work better if you find issues.

Installing Setpoint then workign on the settings via their taskbar clock area app (which installed with setpoint) fixed it for me. The middle button was set to "middle button" when I opened the app, but when I Clicked "restore defaults" it changed to "scroll". I then manually set #3 to to "middle button" and that fixed mine.

Ran into this issue today and finally closed all apps and restarted the system (Win10) and it began working again. Sometimes the old-school fix of a restart is all it needs 😄
