Great - glad to hear.

For making a new tool, you'll have to go into the library and define the tool you're looking for with the parameter options. Go to your local libraries and then select the Icon at the top that looks like a turning tool with a plus sign and you'll be able to set all of the information and save it to your library.

@Anonymous Thanks for posting your question to the forum. Would you be able to share or attach the Fusion 360 file and also let me know which post processor you're using? This could be a post issue, but will need to take a closer look at some things to diagnose it further. Looking forward to your reply!

Hi there @Anonymous

I'm looking at the code that is posted when you use the ST20Y post from the CAM library on the opart that you have posted and I'm not seeing anything that looks incorrect with the lathe tooling for live or stationary tooling. The G17 word means that you're working on the XY plane so this is used for both live and stationary drilling that's on the end of your part. Are you seeing any live tooling specific words when posting with a stationary tool like M133?

Let me know if that helps!

Hi @Anonymous
I wanted to get you a more in depth and technically correct explanation on this. On the Haas control, G17, G18, and G19 are specified to call the XY, XZ, and YZ planes respectively. These words really come into play for circular moves. These plane designations tell the machine what plane G02 and G03 designations are on. So for something where there is no circular motion, like drilling with a stationary tool, it shouldn't matter what mode it's in. I'd think G17 is the mode it should be in considering that G02 or G03 moves in this position would be in the XY plane but because drill cycles don't have any G02 or G03 moves, that designation is usually left out, defaulting to a G18.

Hope that's clear!

OK I'LL PUT IT IN THE MACHINE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS .. I ASKED BECAUSE TO ME IT SHOULD STAY IN THE DEFAULT G18 FOR XZ... AND THEN G17 G19 WOULD BE MORE FOR LIVE TOOLING ETC. THANKS

Hi @Anonymous

No problem - just to close the loop, did you have to remove the G17 for it to run correctly? We've been running our ST20Y in house without any issue with the current post processor and the G17 code in place.
