dimension tool not working

When I follow lesson to draw a rectangle I am not allowed to modify the dimension by clicking D going to item I want to change clickin on it R or L dosnt high light it or open the dimensioning box to allow a news dimension to be entered.

How is that corrected.

Hi @tannerridge747

Thanks for posting! To edit an existing sketch dimension, you need to double click the existing dimension. Hitting the D key makes the dimension tool active, which is preventing you from selecting the existing dimension. I've walked through this in the screencast below - please let me know if you have any questions.

That is what is not working! The program is flukie, Iv even done a
reinstall but it still dosnt work???

No that dosnt work, is that a right click or a left click? any how neither
work. also when I try to continue the line Fusion insists on drawing an
arc. ??? even though I select LINE @#%@##

When the object is completed an a shaded infill appears there are no
dimension nodes to click on and the line dosnt highlight when it is R or L
clicked. The L click drops the fan window but that dos not give a dimension
option.

????

I've created another screencast with some more detail on your questions - I hope this will help! The things to check are:

Is the sketch active? You can tell that you are actively editing a sketch when the Sketch Palette is shown.
Are your selection filters limiting your ability to apply dimensions? To do so, you need to be able to select sketch geometry - I have "Select All" enabled most of the time when I am working in Fusion.
Remember that sketch commands are kept active in Fusion after the initial entity is created. For example, if you LMB-click to start a line, move the mouse cursor over, and LMB-click to place the next point of the line, you will need to either hit the check mark or hit the Escape key on your keyboard to exit the line command. It sounds like you may be leaving commands active, which is leading to confusion when trying to start the new command. To see if a command is active, keep the mouse cursor still to see if a pop-up line of text shows or simply hit Escape on your keyboard a few times to ensure no command is active
Clicking the RMB in the Fusion workspace will bring up the radial menu of commands.

From the problems you have described, it sounds like Fusion is working correctly - I think there is just some confusion on how to begin and end sketch commands. This video may help you understand the sketch environment as well - please give it a watch. If you continue to experience problems, it may help to record a screencast illustrating the behavior on your end.

Double clicking is OK but too ownorous why cant it be done with a single click?

Thanks for posting - I'm glad I was able to help! A single click selects the dimension - holding a single click will allow you to move the dimension.
