Splitting body problems

Hey everyone,

So I am fairly new to Fusion but am using it for a project, and I needed to split a sphere. I had done it before, but now whenever I split it, it would split (and there were two bodies), but when I would move it, a whole sphere would re-apear, kind of like it just duplicated it, and the spline tool I used was making part of it vanish if I moved part of my body through it. I followed several youtube videos too, but the same think keeps happening.

I also just read another post with the same problem as mine, but I can't find a good answer there. Does anyone know what I can do?

The referenced forum question has an excellent screencast on how to split a sphere. I am puzzled when you mention a spline. The creation of a sphere and the splitting of the spherical body DO NOT involve a spline. Please post your part as an attachment to your forum question so others can actually open it and troubleshoot your issue. If you do not know how to export your model, take a look at the screen capture below. The file extension is .f3d.

Hello,

I used the spline as the splitting tool, although I guess you could use a line. I was following a tutorial on how to do it, and the guy used a spline so I just copied him. (He didn't cut a straight line though, he cut a wave shape, so I guess thats why he used one).

The problem still isn't going away, but I decided that it would be easier to change my plan a bit and not cut it, but thank you for your help anyway!

If you watch the screencast close, you will see that you use a workplane or origin plane for splitting a body. You do not need a line or spline at all. Create a sphere using the origin as the center, then use any one of the origin planes as the split tool. Remember to create the sphere as a body not a component.
