Fusion 360 Probe Orientation

On UMC-750 using Fusion 360 Ultimate.

Probe Orientation for our Op2 is returning an error.

We are trying to probe at B90 and we are receiving an error code on the UMC-750.

Error Code: “2062 TCPC or DWO incompatible”

We are in G254 for Op2.

I can find workarounds for specific parts, but I am looking for a general solution for probe orientation.

I have been working with several different programmers of varying degrees of experience and expertise and there is no solution on this issue to date.

Uploaded the probe orientation test .NC Code - the error occurs when the table moves to B90.

Thanks for posting! This seems like an odd error at the machine.

Would you mind sharing the Fusion 360 design that is giving this error at the machine? I'd like to have a look at how the probing operation is set up.

Thanks for posting the file. To clarify - is this issue occurring anytime the table goes to B90? Or in only specific orientations?

I'm also curious if you've reached out to Haas about why this error may be occurring at the machine - please let me know if they have provided any thoughts on the error message you are receiving.

I did find this forum thread, which explains that a (DWO) "Dynamic Work Offset" code G254 needs to be added after any "B" and "C" 5 axis rotary initial positioning block when machine is used as a 3+1 or 3+2 mill, then cancelled with G255 before next "B" and "C" move is positioned. It looks like the G254 is coming in at the right spot in the code.

It looks like you are getting the G255 calls in the code, but I wonder if the post is putting it in the wrong spot. I've reached out to the post team about this, along with some other internal resources, and will circle back to this thread as soon as I have more information to share.

A: This error occurs when we attempt to probe at B90, there is No error when we probe B0-C0.

Context: On the UMC-750, probe orientation (probe at B90) is a critical feature for us.

Question: Are you aware of anyone (Any Machine Shop using a UMC-750) that can probe at B90 using Fusion 360 Ultimate?

I am trying to trouble shoot this issue and determine whether it is general to Fusion 360 and the UMC OR whether it is specific to us (meaning a specific error we are making).

To confirm - the error occurs at the machine anytime the machine goes to B90, regardless of the C0? Is the error exactly the same for B90 C0 as B90 C90/180/270?

I've reached out to some internal folks with access to a UMC-750 to check their experience with this issue. From what I can tell, your probing operations are set up properly in Fusion, but I'm not sure if this would be a limitation of the machine. This could also be an issue with the post itself and I've reached out to the post team as well.

I'll let you know as soon as I have more information to share.

A: I have only tried B90, NOT all the other variables (C90/180/270).

Our theory is the issue is with the Post, with that said, we are not certain.

This is a very important issue to any machine shop with a UMC-750 and Fusion 360 Ultimate. Much appreciated and I am looking forward toward resolution.

Thanks again for posting. I spoke with some of our Haas experts about this and they mentioned that Haas doesn't support probing and G254. To resolve this issue, you would need to contact Haas.

The problem isn't to do with Fusion

Its a deficiency of the Haas Control that will not allow Probing in a tilted coordinate system using the Renishaw macros.

I believe you can use the Inspect surface method of probing and then use part alignment in fusion for setting parts.
