Thanks for posting! Your screenshot looks as I would expect Fusion to, so we may be able to help out by removing some of the ever present UI elements from your screen. I've walked through some examples of things you could do to to clear up screen space in the video below - I hope this will help.

Hi,

I'm running Fusion on a Win 10 laptop with a 1920 x 1080 resolution and Windows has thoughtfully scaled the UI to 125% for me without asking. However, Fusion is looking crisp and the UI looks the right size.

However, I also run an extended screen which I use the most which is a 24" monitor also with 1920 x 1080 resolution but not scaled by Windows. On this screen the Fusion UI, although crisp, looks too big, the buttons and pop up menus cannibalising way too much space.

Any suggestions as to how I can reduce the UI size on my extended monitor, even if that means favouring it over my laptop monitor?

Thanks

On reflection, I guess the UI is the size it is and there's nothing I can do about it except increase the resolution of my screen, which I can't. The Windows scaling is a red-herring.

Am I the only one who finds the UI takes up too much space?

The spaces between the Sketch Palette menu items, for example? Is that normal?

Thanks for the informative video. I probably won't hide stuff as I tend to use the mouse a lot rather than the keyboard. FWIW, I do think that you could change the UI to get a lot more screenspace by:

reducing the space between the toolbar icons and the text which appears below

reducing the space used up by the tabs, (this is totally dead space)

offering a 'small icon' option in the preferences

having an option to not show text under the icons

reducing the space between menu options in the pop up menus, (Sketch Palette being the prime example),

reducing the space on the side of the Sketch Palette menu

There are other places where space could be save but you get the idea.

However, it is a question of personal preference, so I'm happy to be in the minority, (if that is the case) !

Nick

Thanks for the response. I do agree that you have some good points here - there is a bit of grey space that isn't being used very efficiently. I'd be interested to see who the minority is in this case - one way to do so may be to post this suggestion on the Fusion 360 Ideastation. Our product management team goes through the Ideastation weekly to prioritize new features and updates to Fusion 360 and other users can vote on your ideas.

We appreciate your input! Feel free to reach out whenever you have questions.

This problem can be solved easy... Simple: Right click on your desctop / Display Setings / Change size of text, apps and other items from 150% to 100% and everything will change in the right order.

@paul.clauss: I wouldn't say, that it looks like expected. Fusion 360 with a maxed window on a 1920 x 1080 monitor should look like this:

@-Nick-: How large your monitor is, doesn't matter. The pixels are just getting bigger or smaller. The resolution is the important part. In comparison here 2560 x 1440

FWIW :

I recently had another problem with the UI where the grey slider for the timeline was obscuring the component colours just below. I finally resolved it by closing my second monitor, (which I used exclusively for Fusion), quitting Fusion, restarting Windows, setting the display scale for the primary display, (not the one I use for Fusion), to 100 from 125 and restarting Fusion. Hey presto, the slider problem disappeared but also my oversized UI. Resetting the primary display scale to 125 did not change anything for Fusion so that's good.

For anyone else out there with two monitors and using wondering if they're suffering from oversized GUI, the answer is possibly due to non obvious scaling by Windows.
