topic Moving lines/sketches to new layer/sketch in Fusion Support Forum

Hello,

I would think this task is simple, but I can't figure it out. And I can't seem to find this topic covered here?

I've imported a DWG file with dozens of line segments. I'd like to simply rearrange and cleanup the drawing. Why does this seem like a huge pain? I'd like to select a closed body (or even just a segment), and place that into a new body/sketch/layer (I come from a graphic design background - so I can't help but think in layers).

THanks!

Hi @brentpotts99

Thanks for posting. While Fusion 360 does not use layers, you could:

Insert one sketch per layer when insering the DXF file, or,

Copy sketch entities from one sketch into another.

Because Fusion 360 does not use layers, these workflows can be a little more painful than they are in a program like AutoCAD and it may be easier to address these changes in the source file.
