Hi,

I am looking to know which product would be best just to show some basic animation of moving parts please. I don't require any weight bearing information. Just a simple animation to make sure everything fits/works together.

THanks!!

Hi all,

I have a very keen 11 year old student who wants to make a model train with working gears that he will then laser cut. Before cutting though he wants to simulate his model. What is the best software for him to do this on?

He is outstanding on 123D Design but wants simulation.

Please help!! Thank you!!

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community!

Glad to hear your son is getting involved so early! What type of simulation are you looking for? Are you referring to motion simulation - i.e. showing the gears working and turning? Or are you referring to physics simulations - i.e. forces acting on a member, etc.

Thanks,

Hi James,
Thanks for the reply.
I believe he just wants to see the gear simulation and their movement. Just to ensure the wheels of his train will move as his gears crank. He is a student in one of my classes and inspiring others!
Cheers,

Marc

I suspect that you are referring more to animation of kinematics than simulation of physical dynamics.

That probably sounds more technically accurate- excuse my "novice" terminology. There is going to be no weight bearing issues, so i suspect animation would be perfect.

Thank you!
