Hi,

Sorry to hear of the continuing trouble. The comments seem to be thinking your file isn't saved.

Is this file-specific or do you see this in every file you open?

I am also wondering if this may be a cache issue. Can you try clearing your local cache to see if it helps? This is done under the Help menu (?) then Support & Diagnostics > Clear cache data.

Finally, could this be a license-related issue? To check this, can you try creating a new account, then using your old account invite the new account to the project and see if (with the new account), you can open the same file and see if comments are enabled?

Thanks for your patience.

The comments pane shows the message "Save this document to add comments, screenshots, and attachments" on all designs, even on saved documents. Is there a setting to allow comments or some other way to activate that pane? The online help demo at http://help.autodesk.com/view/fusion360/ENU/?caas=caas/video/youtube/watch-v-hNPZu-53H9M.html doesn't appear to require anything special, just expand the comments pane and it's ready to go, but on my computer it doesn't function as shown. Any help would be appreciated!

Fusion 360 version 2.0.4391

Mac OS High Sierra version 10.13.5

Version 2.0.04391 is running. Fusion 360 has been closed and started again several times and the computer has been restarted as well but the situation stays the same. This file is one that I created and has been saved in a folder within a project in the data panel. None of my files allow me to add comments. Neither do any other files that were created by someone else but are in a shared project. I'll check on another similar computer and see if that installation allows me to comment.

It isn't a team hub. I made the projects and am listed as the moderator. Then several other people were invited to the projects.

On a similar computer (another iMac, Mac OS High Sierra version 10.13.36) the comments also did not function. But on a Windows 10 computer the comments pane did function properly when I signed in. So perhaps it is more likely an issue with the software on these Mac computers rather than my account or the project / file settings.

And apologies if this has been asked/tried but does this happen in a specific project/folder or any/all new/existing files?

If a file is copied to another project/folder do the Comments work?

Can you try creating a new folder, a new design, make a box, save, then do the Comments work?

Is there another account you could login with where you could test (to see if the issue is account-related or something with the installed image).

Alright, so this is the day after the previous post in which things seemed to be sorted out and working properly. Today when starting Fusion 360 for the first time (it had been quit yesterday), it prompted for email and password to log in even though I hadn't logged out and comments don't function again. Any ideas how to actually fix this?

By now the installed version has been updated to 2.0.4860.

Thanks for following up baribak. The computer was updated to macOS Mojave 10.14 via a clean install. So with the OS being as well as Fusion 360 being completely fresh, comments are functional. This was done just before your message so I wasn't able to address all your questions, but just for future reference I'll answer what I can from the experience prior to the clean install.

Comments were not functional on any design (file as you call it) whether I created it or not. Making a new project and then saving a new design in it did not allow comments to function either.

The cache individually wasn't cleared, but I uninstalled using the Fusion 360 cleaner app and then reinstalled without luck. Not sure if that would have included clearing the cache in its process or not.

Did not try making a new account.

To reiterate, a clean install of macOS Mojave 10.14 plus a fresh install of Fusion 360 resulted in comments functioning. I appreciate everyone who worked to help fix the issue!

Thanks for the update and very happy to hear it's working.

If this occurs again verify all of the files are marked "Read Only".

If so, the only reason I know of is if the entitlement for your account can't be read correctly. There have been reports of "host" file entries and/or antivirus programs which block our authentication servers but didn't see any evidence of that in the log files so I'm not really sure what the cause was.

Thanks for using Fusion 360!

Sorry to hear of the trouble. Here are some things to check out:

Is this an issue on all files? e.g. can you create a new file and see if comments work?

Is this happening in only 1 project/folder? Can you create a new project and move/copy files there. Do Comments work?

Can you try clicking on a file in the Data Panel, click on the version number, choose View Details on Web. While in Fusion Team (in web browser) see if you can add comments to the file, then open in Fusion and see if the comments are there?
