Autodesk Fusion 360 is cloud based.

Autodesk Inventor Professional is not cloud based (but of course could be for customers how choose to use it that way).

You need to select the correct tool for your Design Intent.

As a new potential user of Fusion 360, I am now a new non-user after about 3 days. Main problem I have is that I do not want to store my data on somebody else's system (trendily known as THE CLOUD), something all the powers that be have always warned us against. Trying to contact Autodesk to query this seems impossible. The datasets for the tutorials do not seem to be available for viewing or download, and every time I visit the website I am confronted with WILL YOU LET US SHARE YOUR DATA? etc. Overall not a good experience, so I consider the learning curve for Fusion not to be a worthwhile investment of my time. They will not accept feedback from me (I am registered, but not subscribed -??), so the forum is my only way of inviting comment. Can anybody recomment a more user friendly way to go? I am aiming at designing items for a Prusa 3D printer with colour option. Thanks, Bob.

Well..

..you probably know that you are able to download/backup the projects locally, right? That would satisfy the 'powers that be' requirement that essential data always be stored in two separate locations..

But it sounds like you may be more worried about having your data stored in a server owned by a company. While I also would prefer to be the sole keeper of my precious 'secrets', I understand it as a tradeoff for very reasonably-priced software with the added benefit of being able to access it from almost any device. I am sure you read the entire 'terms of service' and understood that your uploaded info stays private (unless ADSK were compelled by law to turn it over). I have clients look over the terms of service and let them know their designs will be stored offsite in autodesks servers and, oddly enough, this seems to comfort them..

So, yeah, if you are designing stuff you NEVER want anyone to know about (for whatever reason) then you need to pay the money for the local-storage-only apps..
