I'm having the same problem. I've attached a screenshot of the error. I'm on Win7 - I don't administer the machine so the linked support article isn't very helpful for me at the moment. I don't know which update killed the drawing module as I don't use it very frequently. I have re-installed Fusion according to the article linked in the error.

I can no longer access the drawing environment. I get an error stating that I have an installation error. I uninstalled Fusion 360 twice and reinstalled, but still no drawing. Windows7 computer. I tried to run the Fusion 360 Cleaner App, but it would not run. Error stated that I was missing an API.

Thank You

Steve Johnson

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for the response! The dll error message you are seeing is usually due to an error with Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables.

To resolve this issue, you need to uninstall all installed Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables from the Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features applet, restart the computer and install all Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables from this link.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have questions.

I uninstalled all the Visual C++ redistributable files. Then downloaded the ones from Microsoft. When I tried to install, I got an error to prevent installation. So I went to MajorGeeks site and tried their installer. It was able to install all the files, but still no drawing mode and also the Cleaner.exe file still stopped with the same error.

Steve

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for sending the logs over my way. I've reached out to the drawings development team as the messaging I see in the logs appears similar to the Windows 7 update errors we've discussed.

As we've discussed, pending Windows 7 updates are often the cause of this problem. I'd like to confirm that you have no pending updates for Windows 7 required - you can check for updates using this procedure. Please send me a screenshot showing when updates were installed (I'd like to see the same screen as shown in Step #5 in the instructions linked above).

This link will show you how to take a screenshot.

I'll keep you posted with any new information from the team, but we will need to confirm that Windows 7 has been updated properly. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for sending the screenshots over via email. The fact that one Windows update fails to complete could be related to the problems you are experiencing - I would recommend reaching out to Windows to see why this update is failing. It may be that we need to force the Windows updates to complete in order to resolve this issue. This link may be a good starting point for troubleshooting Windows, but you may need to get in touch with their support team if problems continue.

The screenshots did not show the current build of Windows 7 you are using - would you mind sending me the build number for the updates that have completed? You can post this on the forum and should be able to gather it using this procedure.

I would also be curious to know if Fusion runs properly if you create a new Windows user profile (with Admin permissions) on the system and right-click Fusion 360 and select "Run as Administrator" when launching the program.

Also, Fusion360 still fails on entry to drawing mode running as administrater from a new user profile??

Hi @Anonymous

Thanks for posting. It seems like there are some strange errors going on with Windows updates, but there are a few more things I think we can try.

First off, I'd like to check to ensure the d3dcompiler_47.dll file is present on your system. To do so:

Right click your Fusion desktop icon

click 'Properties'

in 'Properties', click the 'Open File Location' button. This will open Windows Explorer to the base folder of your Fusion launcher folder.

Next, go up 2 folder levels

Now in Windows Explorer, enter in the search box "accoreconsole.exe"

Right click the resulting AcCoreConsole.exe and click 'Open file Location'. This will open a separate Windows Explorer Window which we will use shortly.

Now close the "accoreconsole.exe" search using the 'Close Search' button

Next search for (exclude quotes) "d3dcompiler_47.dll"

Right click the resulting d3dcompiler_47.dll and click 'Copy'

Finally, in the new Windows Explorer window that was opened at the AcCoreConsole.exe search results (item 2.1) 'Paste' the copied d3dcompiler_47.dll

Now try Fusion Drawings

This procedure was discussed in this forum thread.

Please verify with me that you see the d3dcompiler_47.dll file and are able to work through this process - I look forward to hearing from you.

Bingo, that did it. I had tried that once before, but must have pasted in the wrong folder. Anyway, it's now working. Thanks.

Have a nice day

Steve
