I was guessing it wasn't really anything nasty, however... as you saying - very surprising?

Well in and of itself Fusion.exe is not a virus so i'm not sure where that's coming from.

The same thing here. I need use my Fusion, but i dont becouse this mallware. I must reinstall and try it again.

You are correct, but I guess the concern is that it may never have been fixed? I would find it very surprising to see malware injected/rolled into an autodesk update of any kind. Perhaps the best thing to do is to test it with another (free) antivirus and see if it still gives the same result.. I work on a mac so I can't check for myself..

I take these virus warnings very seriously, and was left with the choice between researching the problem or quitting with Fusion. The latter is out-of-the-question because I'm totally hooked on Fusion. So here's what I did...

Performed the usual Internet search for all references to IDP.ALEXA.51 and false positives.
Submitted the file to Avast for analysis [ they don't reply so I have no way to know what they found ]
Repeated the Fusion update on another machine/OS [ Windows 7 / Windows 10 ] -- no problem found
Bit the bullet and released Fusion360.exe from the Virus Chest [ and took care not to run it ].
Ran a FULL scan which included the AutoDesk executables.
And, low and behold, no problem detected.

I concluded the alert was a false positive.

How do you perform an update on Fusion 360?

I thought that "...Fusion 360 are automatically checked for and downloaded when you launch Fusion 360 in online mode..."?

So I am assuming that my Fusion 360 has been checked and is up to date since I have started it and used many times since this incident?

and... that despite IDP.ALEXA.51 being safely locked in the virus chest (I can't "restore" it anyway ?)

I do not know why Avast is blocking it. We tend to have various issues with some Anti-virus programs as they block network connections or lock files from use.

Fusion.exe if its installed through us is not a virus. If it became infected (highly unlikely) clean uninstall and run whatever virus scanning software you need to. Then reinstall from your account page manage.autodesk.com.

If its still flagging it - its either a false positive or an issue with your system.

I have (since starting this thread) used another PC to run Fusion and the automatic update gone through without Avast protesting about anything, so it must have been false positive.
