topic Form tools and 3d tool paths in Fusion Support Forum

I can't get a form tool to work with 3d cam operations like pocket or contour. I am using high feed milling but using a face mill with a radius is leaving too much material to finish because of the slight angle. So I did a form tool to the exact size of the tool so its correct but it says it cant?

Hi @bigbrad73

Thanks for posting!

Currently, custom form tools are only supported in 2D Contour and Trace toolpaths. I hope to see the option to use form mills added to 3D tool paths as well and believe that increasing support for form mills is in the development teams backlog.

For your purposes, it sounds like the face mill cut could potentially be cleaned up be creating an offset surface and then extending the edges of the surface so the extra material is not left over. If you'd like to share the design you are working with me and point out where material is being leftover, I'm happy to have a look!
