does fusion just suck or is there something i need to turn on that will make snapping and auto guiding work properly. sometimes I can reference other points in a design when making a new sketch by hover over them then moving the cursor to where I want to draw. however, often the guide will hold a snap position as I move the cursor, but when the cursor gets to the point on the line I want to add the point to, the "snapping " feature stops and the cursor is free floating. not effectively adding the point to any constrained spot. whats with that?

It is hard to tell if the edge has been projected into the sketch which would probably allow the snap of the sketch to it. Some Fusion users do not like this Preference Setting but I find it very useful in such situations.

In the video, it looks like the cursor snaps to an edge of existing geometry.

Is that not the expected behavior?

I can't say that I've experienced any problems with any snapping behavior.

For reference, I have used CAD professionally for machine and product design for well over 3 decades. 25 years of those in 3D. I've used Fusion for almost 10 years (alongside a number of other CAD systems, namely SolidWorks and ZW3D).

no, the snap follows all the way till it touches the edge where Iwant to ad a point, but then the snap stops and its free floating. notice when my cursor hits the vertical line its no longer snapped, not making the placement of the point accurate.

The setting @jhackney1972 is referring to I turned off shortly after starting to work with Fusion. I never use it!

It is supposed to make things easier for beginners, but it is more detrimental than helpful.

Sketches are the foundation of 3D modeling in Fusion, and I don't want anything in my sketch that I've not explicitly included! If I want to reference other geometry that isn't part of the sketch, I project it into the sketch, and then snapping works just fine.
