Circles - few questions/annoyances. Help please.

Sorry if this is the wrong part/section.

But it is kind of a F360 functionality thing.

Ok, I've spoken to someone and they explained what they understand.

Sketching.

Circle.

(The machine is turned off so I can't get the exact terms)

I want to draw a circle.

I usually use the first one: Centered circle (diameter).

I stress diameter here because that throws me.

When I am drawing a circle where I am marking the center, I usually know the RADIUS - as "back in the day" they were drawn with a protractor, and that is set to the RADIUS, not the DIAMETER.

What also throws a spanner in it is when I am drawing it, it shows a line from the center point to the outside. Again: That is the RADIUS. If it is showing the DIAMETER, then it should be edge to edge.

I have been caught many times drawing circles and wondering why they don't look the right size.

I've been told there is a way to select if it is the RADIUS or DIAMETER when drawing it on how you "click the mouse".

(No offense to the person to whom I spoke) but that kinda got lost in translation.

Is there a way to draw a CENTER POINT CIRCLE / RADIUS?

Next thing:

Say I draw a rectangle (yeah, I know: That isn't a circle). I then extrude it. I have a cube.

If one of the sizes is wrong, I can EASILY (but don't ask me how just now) go in and edit the size of ANY side and it is propagated to the cube.

I think I click on either the EXTRUDE or SKETCH part (depending on which dimension I want to edit) and RMB on it and edit the sketch. I then edit the size.

So........

I draw a circle. I extrude it.

Then I realise it is the wrong size. (Say half the size it should be because of the problem mentioned above.)

I am at wit's end to edit the radius/diameter of the circle.

Anxiously awaiting an easy solution.

Bit by bit,

Circle - Centre Diameter - have go, as you ae dragging the size, the display is edge to edge, and expects a diameter value. Click in space without typing a dimension.

(If you were to drill that hole size, do you have radius sized drills?)

Setting a Compass - I can still remember them, - 6 of one and half dozen of the other.

Size Change - select Dimension tool (d key) and click on the circle, a dimension leader and a dialogue entry window opens, overtype the new value, and OK / Accept with your preferred method, you receive a dimensioned Circle.

If the Dimension already exists, double click the value and overtype a new value.

Setting a Radius, When using the Dimension tool, click on the circle, and then right click for a Menu, in that menu the Radius version is available. It toggles so the next drill size will now be a radius version, be Super careful.

I think I got them all.

Might help....

1 - that only works if you realise the problem BEFORE pressing the STOP SKETCH button.

After that, all bets are off.

You can add a dimension after creating the circle. If you right click while creating the dimension, you can choose radius if you want. See the screencast below. You can even toggle the dimension between diameter and radius after it is created - select the dimension, right click, and choose "Toggle Radius".

A small bit of trivia: Originally, the circle command in Fusion was a radius-based command. The outrage that this spawned was amazing, so we changed it to be a diameter dimension. Which goes to prove: You can never make everyone happy...

It is amazing how a screencast can clear things up.

I shall have to study that a few more times to "get my head around it".

In the mean time I have been trying to edit a circle's size but gee it is figity.

It seems very easy to "overconstrain" it..... Or something like that.

I kept messing it up because I was clicking in the wrong place, or doing it out of sequence. STILL not exactly sure what/which.
