Is the texture you are using custom?

Does this happen with other textures?

Zip the file and try to attach.

I've just now gotten around to test some of your scenes.

I created a test object and applied one of the solid wood textures from Fusion 360. Those aren't image based and I know they work. The I placed that image on top of the table in your scene, hid the concrete backwall and used the "small hangar" HDRI from PolyHaven to light the scene.

The solid wood texture looks great, but the image based wood texture looks like ... well .. an image. No bump map visible in the render whatsoever. I also applied that image based walnut texture to te test object and it looks completely flat.

I previously experimented with image based textures from Arroway and got good results. I'll try some of that tonight and post results.

For the floor texture you used a glass material I guess to get some glossiness?

Either way, you need to use an existing wood texture, rename, and edit it. Then plug your image maps into the respective slots.

The reason many of the textures including all the built-in image-based wood textures show no bump ma is because their roughness is too high. The roughness is controlled by an image-based texture as well. If you edit that image and select "Invert image" then you get some glossiness and also see the bump maps.

I believe that the ability to adjust the image brightness to adjust roughness was added at some point in time and there is this little bug now that requires you to invert the images even for all the builtin wood textures 😕

@Phil.E @jeff_strater any chance we can get that recorded as a bug ?

If I understand correctly, you're discussing the difference between 3D wood appearance and regular wood textures in renderings. I'm seeing expected results.

The 3D wood sphere is more detailed than the regular wood appearance on the plank shape. These are both glossy cherry. But this is expected, the textures are based on entirely different technology.

Can you please export that texture and attach it here?

First create a local library (.adsklib) using the material editor.

Then right click on the appearance and add it to the library.

That will help me test the problem you are reporting.

Is the texture you are using custom?

Does this happen with other textures?

Zip the file and try to attach.

Zipping the file worked. 🙂👍 Please find it attached below.

It's an existing material from the library. "It's called Exposed Aggregate - Recessed".
I just replaced the existing image and adjusted the color to get the color and texture that I wanted.

The color looks right prior to rendering it but the texture disappears. I have no idea why.

It actually does happen with other materials as well, the color transcends the render process but the texture doesn't, so I don't think it'd be the texture itself.

But I'll let you analyze it.

Hopefully you can help me.

Thank you so much!

That file is empty and I am not sure appearance libraries can be share this way.

Please share a design that uses this appearance material (which is different from a physical material).

That's what I was afraid of, that it wouldn't be inside the zipped file since the format is not supported.

Maybe I can share it via WeTransfer?

The design that uses this appearance material is the one that I sent before.
I'm attaching the images here as well. One is before the render (texture shown) and one is after the render (no texture shown).

Yes you can export adsklib files and share libraries with them. That's exactly what they are for.
