Bizarre behavior: working with a line that has no constraints or fixed dimension, I am unable to apply a parallel constraint or a coincident constraint. See screencast:

Can you upload the file so I can mess around in there and see what's going on? It looks like you have 3D sketch on - is it possible you're not drawing on the correct plane?

Thanks @karina.harper — good point about 3d sketch, though everything was on the correct plane.

I'm keeping that file private; if I have time (though odds look slim right now!) I'll make another file demonstrating the problem...

Thanks for the offer @karina.harper—I actually changed the sketch quite a bit since I posted so that issue isn't present anymore, but good to know that's an option for future...
