I suddenly can't copy any files. Fusion360 gives me the message "Number of inbound relationships exceeds limit" in the data panel when I try to copy anything. I also tried to make copies in A360 on a web browser and I just get the message "Copy of filename failed."

Opening a file then using Save As creates a new entry in the data panel, but that entry is stuck with a spinning wheel and v0 no matter how many times I try to save it.

As far as I can tell, nothing's been updated since yesterday when everything was working normally.

Hi Kyle,

The error message is suggesting that you have hit a limit on the number of files in a folder (10,000). If that is the case, then copying or saving into a different folder or project should still work.

Does it seem feasible that you have 10,000 files in this folder ? If not then we should investigate what is happening, which would be helped if you could upload your diagnostic logs for review.

I probably have around 2000 total files on my Team Hub in a few different projects.

Most of my files are linked to a few fixture models. I can copy the fixture assemblies, and they contain linked components. I cannot copy any model containing the linked assemblies.

Can I copy it?

Base Component - OK

Assembly containing base component - OK

     Assembly containing assembly - Fail

My workflow is entirely dependent on making copies of design templates that fall under that third category.

Hi Kyle,

Thank you for the logs, I believe I tracked down the reason for the errors. The assembly you are copying includes a number of sub-assemblies that are being used in a very large number of other assemblies. The copy is failing because the number of links to these sub-assemblies (5000+) is hitting an internal limit that we hadn't expected to be exposed in this way.

We believe there is a workaround available, which isn't ideal, but should let you get past this and continue working. If you open the sub-assemblies which are used frequently, make a no-op modification to them, save them, and then perform a Get Latest in the assembly you want to copy, then subsequent copies should succeed. (The reason for this is that we track assembly -> sub-assembly relationships on versions, so the new version of each sub-assembly will reset at a low number of relationships).

Apologies for the need for a workaround, we're going to keep investigating the internal limit on our side and see what we can do to avoid it.

I'm wondering how you're seeing 5000 links to a particular version of an assembly. I have at most 950 files that reference that assembly. Is it possible that each version of a file produces a distinct link back to the reference assembly? For instance, if Part1 has 5 versions in its history, does it account for 5 links to Fixture_assembly?

Hi Kyle,

Yes, we do track links between assemblies at the version level, so if versions 1 through 5 of an assembly all use the same version of another design, that will be 5 separate links in our system. As we explored the problem you ran into, the implications of this behavior (and limitation) for a scenario such as standard parts or machine tools became clear and we are investigating what can be done to either remove the limitation or change the behavior. Unfortunately I don't expect there to be a quick fix, but we're looking...

Regards,

Hi. I seem to have the same problem. But the solution you came up with doesn't work for me. In fact it gets worse. All linked components have been deleted from the model. My work and schedules depend on these models. I would appreciate help. I am attaching a diagnostic file.
Thanks.
Igor
