Thanks for the tip, that got me where I needed to go. Fusion is a great program, but it would be dangerous (to the competition) if it had more drafting functionality. I'm confident it will get there!

Drafting help, how can I draw a leader in space (not pointing to Solid Model)

I want to draw leader arrows pointing to different components that will be referenced in the Bill-of-Materials. How can I do this when the image in the drawing is just a jpeg image I imported.

There are referenced solids in this drawing that won't make the transition from model space to drawing space, so my work-around is to load an image of the model space into the drawing.

This is just an assembly drawing, the detail drawings will be on subsequent sheets and I won't have this issue.

I don't know if there is a way I can create a sketch and reference those points, or if I just have to bite the bullet and use another program (or re-create the reference images that don't load from model space to drawing space).

If anybody has anything that has worked for them, I'd appreciate it.

@fenton_webb can probably weigh in more on the arrows. As far as i'm aware they need some reference geometry from a view to be place.

I guess i don't understand why you're using an inserted Jpeg vs a view of the assembly. You could do this with a view as i'm guessing you created a jpeg from Fusion.

Sorry, but it's not supported currently. Fusion Drawing Leaders are hard coded to pick an edge.

Underneath the hood, we are running the headless version of AutoCAD, so it is totally possible to enable the simple Leader command, but as I mentioned, currently it's not supported.

I am with @ryan.bales on why you want to create a drawing using an image but there is a cheat to what you want. Follow the screencast I attached. One change I would make, make the sketch rectangle a little bigger, .001" was entirely too small to select.

@fenton_webb wrote:

So, on an aside; is there a way that I can key in AutoCad commands to make Fusion do AutoCad things? My work around to get a lot of drafting things done has been to export my Fusion drawing to a dwg. and then load it in AutoCad to make the changes.
