Hi,

1. do you receive an error message?
2. are you using an older version as the customer?
3. was the file created by your customer with an “insider version”?

Perhaps it's a graphics driver issue? You could try the various driver options in the Fusion preferences to see whether that fixes it:

@g-andresen Using my laptop, my software and my design. No errors displayed but missing file browser. This is the same problem we have been dealing with 5+ years now. Autodesk should be a shamed of themselves. The file browser crashes and doesn't come back. And yes, I reinstalled Fusion again and it worked one time and is right back to doing this.

It appears to be when you resize or move the Fusion window on startup or you leave the file browser open when you closed it the last time.

In this state you can open files by going to the menu but forget inserting other designs or using (like in my case last night) the history function.

@MRWakefield nope, nothing. Its moving the window when Fusion is loading or leaving the file browser open that causes the issue. Same problem we have seen over the past 5+ years. I think its the code for that module. It simply does not connect to its peer in AWS. When you call it too early (open in or resize the window) it never connects and thus never renders.

The extra fun part is Fusion resizes itself on startup unless you make it a medium sized window AND remember to close the file browser before you quit

No problem, I thought it was worth mentioning in case it worked for you.

I've never experienced this particular issue with any of my installations (4 individual systems over the past 7 years of using Fusion) and my data panel is permanently open even when closing Fusion, although I am aware (after searching the forum) that others have had similar issues with a blank data panel.

You clearly know more about what's going on at the back end as regards Fusion and AWS communication than I do. I've just performed some tests where I've resized and moved the main Fusion application window while it's loading up and I'm not seeing any issues at all.

Have you tried using Procmon to try and identify where it might be failing?

The "causes" part of that article kinda buries the point. What it's trying to describe is the situation where Windows thinks it's doing you a favor by running Fusion (or its subcomponents) on integrated graphics while it lets your 3070 sit idle. For example, while Windows might normally park Fusion on your 3070 when plugged in, it might have decided to use integrated graphics while on battery.

Specifically, they seem to be implying that the process adcefwebrowser.exe might not run well integrated. That said, I couldn't find it in my install to tweak individually. Dunno why.

I'd look for something in your laptop's power management settings to force processes to use your 3070 when on battery.
