Possible Apple Mac switch to ARM Processors - Future of Fusion 360 on Mac?

There are reports of Intel confirming Apple moving Mac's from X86 processors to ARM processors, possibly as early as next year.

Assuming these reports are accurate, does Autodesk plan to continue to support Fusion 360 on the Mac, or would the shift to ARM over complicate development and support for ARM Mac's would be abandoned?

If it is necessary to walk away from Apple support, might Autodesk finally consider Linux/X86 support?

Hi @glrra30

Thanks for posting. I am not aware of any plans to abandon Mac support in Fusion 360 - as far as I know, Mac and Windows will continue to be supported. There are no plans to add Linux support.

I do appreciate you bringing this change to my attention and will pass it along to the development team to ensure they are aware of this change.

Apple is making this official as I post this. When can we expect a statement from Autodesk concerning Fusion360 future support of OSX as Apple move away from Intel processors?

Just fyi, Fusion 360 works on Apple + arm. So far only the drawings seem to be not working, although I have not tested it thoroughly. I am running beta 5 on a developer kit, and Fusion 360 is one of the very few electron apps actually working with rosetta.

rknall, thank you for the information.

While it is not bad news, I don't think dependency on Rosetta is a long-term solution.

Autodesk needs to make it clear whether or not they are going to support Fusion 360 as a native Apple Silicon app.
