topic Plane not passing through 3 points selected in Fusion Support Forum

I am using a number of scans of the inside of a building. Scans imported as .obj from a structure scanner on an IPad.

I create a theoretical plane of a wall by creating a 'plane through 3 points' of the mesh.

This has worked fine for multiple planes on multiple scans.

However, I now have one scan where the plane simple does not pass through the 3 selected points. It sits at some strange angle, missing all the points. This happens for any set of points I pick within this model, but I can go back to other models and create planes correctly. (Just installed 13th March update)

The scan has been scaled and trimmed in 'Mesh', but so have others. Why just this one model?

Hi @high.lea ,

Thank you for posting in the forum! I tested with your file but I'm not sure why the issue is occurring at this point. I'll investigate this further and post more information as soon as I can.

Hi @high.lea ,

I think I found a way to fix this. Could you try the following steps?

1. Save the mesh body as a new file using "Save As STL" command in the browser

2. Upload the STL file to your project, or use Insert Mesh command

3. In Mesh workspace, use Reverse Normal command to flip the faces of the mesh body

4. Try creating a plane using Plane through three points

Hi @high.lea ,

I just found that the development team is working on an issue where Plane Through Three Points does not work after moving a mesh body (FUS-37087), and I was wondering if your issue is related to that.

Have you moved the mesh body by any chance?
