Why Can't I Upload Parasolid Files Anymore? Please Help

I've always been able to upload X_T files from one of my customers. I get a pdf error message every time now. I have attached a screenshot of it. These very same files load just fine in Alibre so I don't think they are bad files. Please help. Thank you!

Hi @utekcnc,

The issue is listed in the error of of picture you attached:

"Version of the file format is not supported"

Which means exaclty what it says - they are sending you a version of X_T format that is newer than we support in Fusion. Have them or if you can open and work in them in Aibre, down save to an older version and you should be fine.

I'm actually a bit confused....I've always been able to open these. Are there older and newer versions of parasolid files? I thought a parasolid x_t file was the same no matter what.

Its tricky to find but yes there are different versions of Parasolid files. Cadexchanger has some good information on this and can switch format versions. https://cadexchanger.com/parasolid

The development team asked me to get a sample from you so we can test the new - forthcoming - translators slated or the April update. Would this be possible?

What version of Parasolid? Can you zip and Attach your file here?

You can determine the Parasolid version by opening the file in Notepad or other text editor...

Can you request an earlier version from the source?

You must have a paid commercial license of Fusion, not the free personal license.

Its also possible the version is newer than what we support. I'd have to check on what version is currently supported.

My knowledge about cad-files is limited. Here it doesn't say parasolid but it's an X_T file.

*.x_t is Parasolid (see second line in your screen capture).

Can you request an earlier version Parasolid file from the source?

If yes, I would request *.x_b format instead and version 30.

Alternatively, can you request a STEP (*.stp) version file from the source?

If you cannot get different version from the source - then you are out of luck.

(Completely wild guess - you might be able to open current version Parasolid sometime around end of March to mid April).

We've been getting the same format from this supplier for years and it has worked with fusion since we started with it over a year ago.

Managed to get an older CAD-program to work so I'll be converting to STEP in there until you get Fusion up to date.

Format, well yes, but has version of Parasolid format been updated over time?

If you have a working relationship with the source simply request an earlier version of Parasolid format.
