Hi

The file was there in the link. I did not bother uploading it as I have already re-created the file.

Just to clarify, it was not a restart because of the update, but because I had to reboot my laptop after installing the screen recorder. But, yes. I did recieve the update already before rebooting. I can see trouble coming if clues from Fusion says the file was saved and uploaded successfully and the Fusion closes down after it was supposed to save the file. I will keep an eye out for future problems.

Thank you

Hi

I encountered what I believe was a bug and wanted to record it. I realised that I did not re-install the screen recorder on my new hardware. So I saved my project, installed the recorder, shut down Fusion and restarted the laptop etc...

Then when I tried to get back to the bug, I cannot find the file at all. Thinking I have perhaps saved it to a different folder, I choose "Recent data." Lo and behold, the preview appeared top left corner (as expected) but then dissapeared never to be seen again. I know very little about the background working of Fusion, but located the diagnostic file. Under what appears to be today's date and the previous time I opened Fusion (i.e. about 3 minutes earlier) I finally drilled down to a "AppLogFile" and found an entry to my file saved and uploaded. It appears to my untrained eye that the file was uploaded successfully. To post all of that her will be "slightly" overbearing. LOL! But here is the last line of that log that reference my file. That seems like it was a success?

20190404T092137 I Uploaded document LED light cover v1, Original File: _LED light cover, Queued File: 0d5a131c-bb66-49a8-950f-6f2707260153.f3d, Guid: 83ef7e41-6617-4253-9e58-6c8058846a06, url: urn:adsk.wipprod:fs.file:vf.yytbzzT8TCm-nZEDRy-kvw?version=1

The project was still in birth pains (the first extrusion, LOL!) with a simple sketch and a single extrusion when I ran into what I believe is a bug. It is easy to recreate the project to where it was (it would have been faster to start over than to type this report), but with two issues within minutes after the latest update I only got today, I feel it is the right thing to do.

The original bug I wanted to record was simple. I created a sketch, extruded, I selected the wrong face, switched of the body select correct face then realised there was a mistake in the sketch. Moved back to sketch, fixed the sketch, go back to end of timeline, the body is now in the way of the extrude selection, but there is no more body to unselect in the browser. Strange, because just before I edited the sketch the body was in the browser.... If I can recreate the issue, I will start a new thread for it.

Hi @bergie5737

Thanks for posting. It sounds like the file was all set for upload to the cloud, but was not for some reason.

The log snippet references the file in the upload queue as:

0d5a131c-bb66-49a8-950f-6f2707260153.f3d

Do you see this file within the D, F, or Q directories within your local Fusion 360 cache? The filepath for the D, F, and Q directories are below:

Windows: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360\L<ALPHANUMERIC ID>\W.login

MAC: Macintosh HD > Users > *** > Library > Application Support > Autodesk > Autodesk Fusion 360 > *** > W.Login

This article may be helpful in finding the local cache. If the 0d5a131c-bb66-49a8-950f-6f2707260153.f3d file is present in those directories, you should be able to get it back into Fusion 360 by uploading it to the data panel.

I would recommend always restarting Fusion 360 after an update completes to avoid this type of issue and apologize for any inconveniences this has caused. It is hard to say what the root cause was in this specific situation (my gut says save immediately after completed update to Fusion 360), but I would start proactively troubleshooting by working through our articles on network configuration for Fusion 360.

Please don't hesitate to reach out on the forum if you see any problems with disappearing files again - I am happy to help.
