Thanks Peter for your fast reply!

Specifically I'm looking for those formats:

.OBJ

.FBX

.STL

.SKP

Is there an actual roadmap of future file formats to exported from Fusion 360? When will there be an update on this?

The currently supported file types require some rework with other CAD programs to actually get what I need.

Why is the list of supported file formats so very short?

From my point of view it is not enough to support only:

SAT

IGES

SMT

STEP

Fusion 360 Archive File (F3D)

Well .. that was what I was afraid off!

None of the formats are actually CAD formats! These are all mesh formats.

.stl and .obj can be exported just fine from Fusion 360. .stl can be generated right from within the application by selecting the component in the bowser and saving it as a .stl.

.obj requires export through A360 (or so I believe).

So maybe instead of complaining it would be better ask the question how that export can be achieved 😉

Thanks Peter for your reply.

Seems we discovered some room for improvement on the usability of Fusion.

From a user perspective the expectation is to find all the possible file formats that can be exported in the menu 'FILE > EXPORT...' regardless if it is a CAD or Mesh format, because the Menu is titled "export" not "CAD format exports"

I personally wasn't aware that file export functionalities are actually distributed at different places throughout the application and are differentiated by e.g. CAD/Mesh/.

Finally your answer helps a lot and now I know where to find what I am looking for.

Would you support to raise a change request for this usability issue to help other users find this feature more easily? What do you think?

I agree that would be nice. One of the reasons this isn't implemented this way is that some of the export functions are only available through the web as they don't work on both macOS and Windows.

The reason Fusion doesn't currently offer more export formats is because they are not supported for conversion/translation client-side.

In a near-term release, more of the most common export formats will be available from the File > Export menu, utilizing a new cloud-based translation process. Sit tight, I think this is exactly what you’re looking for.
