Have problem with Surface some surfaces will not be created

I have a boat hull where patch will work on some surfaces but not on others and I don’t understand why. Attach the project file. The boat will be built from plywood strips so that is why surface is used.

Can you share a picture that is similar to the desired result?

Generally, when working with spline curves and surfaces, less is more.

Splines with fewer spline points, fewer profiles fewer rails all usually help to improve the surface quality.

The patch tool is entirely the wrong tool for creating a boat surface.

The tool of choice is the loft tool.

Nope!

I have attached a boat model from another thread where I helped another used with his model.

Please go through the timeline step by step, edit each feature to see what was selected etc.

The shape is different, but the model might explain the overall approach.

That might work better than me trying to explain this verbally.

Hi thanks for the model I will look into it in the evening!

The problem with my design is that the boat will be made out of plywood strips that can’t be double curved, the width must be flat. I need to export each piece individually and the guy that will CNC route it need it as an DXF. I will use Meshmixer to flatten it as ExactFlat nowdays only is available for SolidWorks. The CNC guy uses Fusion CAM so he can take any file from it but he prefers DXF for some reason. As you can see in my file, the shape was taken from a set of frames that was curved and then ”digitalized” to several flat segments. These segments define the shape of the plywood strip at each frame. I realize that few controlpoints are better so I can definitely optimize that.

Aha, I thought that might be the case. Still, a patch will not do that!

The patch tool in Fusion will create a "boundary patch. Imagine it to work like stretching a stiff table cloth over a thin welded frame. The patch surfaces sometimes have "their own mind" 😉
