Circular Toolpaths not generating properly

I am trying for the first time to use the manufacturing part of Fusion 360. But I am having some trouble with my tool paths. I am trying to machine a simple spherical smiley face but the tool paths are not going around the part circular. In the tutorial I am following everything worked as expected but I cannot figure out why the tool paths will not go circular around the part. I am still a newbie with Fusion and I appreciate any help at all.

Can you clarify what you mean by 'going circular around the part'? What are you expecting to see?

You're using an adaptive toolpath, which is a particular type of operation that engages one side of the tool at a time.

You might be expecting to see something more like a pocket toolpath, which in my opinion would work better in this situation. Here's a comparison of the time difference between the adaptive toolpath provided by Evan and Katelyn and a pocket operation I made.

Adaptive will be easier on your end mill, but in this case (in my opinion) it is extremely conservative. For a part like this that is in the middle of the stock, a pocket will work great and take way less time.

Adaptive is much better when you are clearing starting at the exterior of the stock and working your way in. If this was a much smaller stock for example, adaptive would work great with a much higher stepdown.

I am looking for it to operate in the same way your toolpath was generated. As of right now mine does does not go in 1 circular motion around the part. Instead it is taking multiple passes for each step down as shown in my video. Or go to 7:03 in the tutorial.

Also did you use screencast to make those gif's?

I use a GIF maker called LICEcap. It's super handy 🙂

I guess I'm still not understanding what you mean. The toolpath you have looks pretty good to me, it's a completely valid adaptive toolpath. The adaptive toolpath I used for the example was from the link Evan and Katelyn put in the description. You could use that and compare your file with theirs. If you share your file here I can make a screencast and talk about the differences.
