I Have two U-shaped components (of different sizes) above each other. How do I create a sheatmetal around and between those two?

This is my skelet, and I want to masuch sheetmetal around:

This one i have tried to create as sheetmetal, but I cannot make (screw)holes patterns in it or unfold. I think I have made it the wrong way.

Hi,

1. create a revolve cone surface from single line

2. thicken to 2 mm

3. extrude both sides to 155mm

4. convert to sheet metal body

5. Modify > unfold

6. project body into sketch and add cut out and hole profile

7. unfold

8. create flat pattern for production

It worked to make the sheetmetal.

I have to have the sheetmetal folded to be able to make holes through both sheetmetal and brackets behind. I can make one hole (skecth on outer metal side) - all fine. But when I then make a pattern around the edge, it is only the bracket behind which gets the holes - not the sheetmetal. Why can that be?

Sorry my slow answers, but I'm have not much time for particering my drawing.

Please use a screenshot to show how the holes should be arranged.

The hole even do not look like the same on the frame/holder.

Are you intending to use CAM on the non sheetmetal parts? For N≤100 it is usual not to...... and simply CAM the holes in the Sheetmetal and transfer "18V ream" the holes through the in-place laser cut and formed Sheetmetal.

Sorry, What I was referring to was creating the outer Sheetmetal part complete with holes but not the inner frame (Which I now see may also be sheet metal) and then once laser cut folded and rolled simply drill through in the shop with a battery drill

Only the big curved plate is sheetmetal. Therefore I need to have all holes marked and aligned before I start produsing any parts. The inner parts which hold the "sheetmetal-outer-cone", will be 3D-printed. I cannot drill holes afterwards.

I thnk it is going to be problematic to the holes to line up in the real-world as your 3D-printed dimensions may simply not be accurate enough but only time will tell.. Is the Fusion file you uploaded still the current best one to work with?

Not much more than a test go at this stage but creating hybrid Sheetmeal body to use as a tool will work but Im sure there's a better way!

Thanks a lot for your suggestion! I'm not familiar with the creation/use off tools, but I'll have a go 🙂
I'm still puzzeld why the holes only are copied in the round bracket, and not in the sheetmatal cover. Even if the sheetmetal is the origien and the first hole is perfect.
