Hi @wmhazzard, sorry for forgetting to turn on the timeline. I think I meant to exit the base feature before continuing with the sketches. (I just tried it again doing exactly that and had the same bad result. I also tried inserting the meshes without creating a base feature at all and had the same bad result).

Does my screencast help you spot what I was doing wrong? This isn't the first imported mesh where I've had this problem. In the screencast you can also see the other issue: the first Fit Curve I create is an ellipse whose preview looks to be the right size (though mirrored across the origin like all of them), but when I click to create the Fit Curve, the result is a much smaller profile. This is at 1:19 in the screencast.

Taken together, these seem to be a bad bug, and one, like @Anonymous said, that directly affects reverse engineering.

I can't imagine it's a difference of software versions, since Fusion seems to auto-update very regularly. Any ideas?

Thanks very much,

Milan

Hi,

I have a big problem since an uptade of Fusion 360.

Now, "Create Mesh Section Sketch" is in "Create" menu. So, I create a Mesh section sketch without problem.

But, when I create a sketh and want to creat a fitted curve on it, it's impossible to select the mesch section. The only way is to use "Closed spline" option, but then the curves is created far away the original mesh section, and inverted.

Thanks in advance.

I'm getting the same results. After creating a Mesh Section, I create a sketch in the same plane. "Fit Curves to Mesh Section" then results in a profile that is mirrored through the origin relative to the Mesh Section. So it's in completely the wrong place.

Furthermore, as jrpieux61 said, my only option is to use closed shapes. And in one case, with an ellipse, the result is *completely* off, smaller by more than a factor of 2, even though the Max Curve Deviation is shown as 5.6E-02mm.

Screencast is here: https://autode.sk/2pAwp7k

Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong or if this is just as buggy as it seems. Thanks,

-Milan

Hi,

I do the same and have same results.

It has work before an update of Fusion360. But now, impossible to use this fonction. And so, impossible to make reverse-engineering.

What a pity...

I hope a solution will be find soon, in order to stay on Fusion360 and not have to use an another sofware....

Thanks all guys !

In fact, first I made a section plane to cut the mesh and then, I used this plane to make the Mesh Section Sketch.

If I do the Mesh Section Sketch without a plane, it works.

@kidd_milan , try to not make a plane before. If not, you will have the spline and circle in mirror, as on your screencast.

I hope I'm clear in my explanations.

Not sure what you mean by "unable". Is the command not in the dropdown for Create?

If so, you may need to turn on Mesh Preview in Preferences:

Or, is the command there, but fails? If so, you'll need to share your design here and a video of what you are doing.
