I am trying to use the circular pattern tool to make even cut outs around a lofted object. I have created my "pattern" but when I use the circular pattern tool and select all the faces the tool fills in other "holes" I have created in my object. I cant seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong...

Hi William,

Not all surfaces are selected in your design.

Delete the selection and adjust the arrangement so that you can select all surfaces at once.

select all faces at once

günther

Thanks for the reply but that was by design, I want to have the "pie wedge" holes duplicated 11 times and the holes on the sides of the object duplicated more like 12 - 14 times. The problem is, after I use the circular pattern on the "pie wedge" holes it erases/fills in two of the holes on the side wall. I can't figure out why this is happening. I have also tried recalculating and every time it happens

I think the way you constructed this using split and boolean is leaving some history behind with shared faces. Not saying it not a bug @jeff_strater what do you think (also is chamfer using angle and distance ever going to get a flip direction option? I had to use a mirror to get chamfer both sides of the small triangular hole). See attached file with a different construction method that works, this is based off your second file attached above.

The model I show in my screen cast is rebuilt a little different than the ones shown in my original post (this time not using so many lofts) but I still ran into the same problem as you can see. I am still learning fusion and how to make efficient design choices with my workflow, so maybe my methods are a bit crude. I still don't understand why my way didn't work, but...

Thank you for your help.

If anyone can see or knows where I went wrong please look over my model and let me know, so I don't learn a terrible habit.

I'd say that is a bug. I will say that the way you've constructed this model is a bit unorthodox, but in the end, pattern faces should be able to handle this - theoretically it should not matter how you created that geometry, you should be able to pattern it without that effect. But, it clearly is related to all those Split Body/Remove/Combine features somehow, because if I roll back to this point:

The pattern works OK. Here is a screencast I created for filing the bug:

the new bug is FUS-50588. Thanks for posting this!

günther

Not sure what you mean but he did ask for 11 copies on the top face and 14 of the axial slots around the circumference. Is that what you're seeing as a mistake?

@g-andresen Also your last version is different as the "Spokes" are parallel not radial as in the original.

In the original version the spokes are radial as below.
