Moving from artcam to fusion problem

Hello.

I'm just trying fusion 360 and loving it so far. The problem I'm having is that my Maxicam cnc router cant read the codes from fusion. The artcam gcodes have different extensions and i have no idea how to config them in fusion.

Despite of fusion having couple of options with *.tap they still dont work on my machine.

Can you help please?

1. which code does Maxicam need
2. There may be a generic PP in the list.

Thank you for the reply. I send the job from artcam in .tap but those .tap's from fusion are not read by my maxicam.

I could reconfig the code if I only knew where to start...

I did have a look at the library but it looks like I have them all in my fusion library. Whats more none of them applies to my machine's manufacturer.

I just posted an idea to HSM. I hope something will come out of it.

@Anonymous Just looked at the link I gave and it looks like it's been edited and not as helpful as before. If you use one of the generic posts like Mach3 and post a part do you know enough about your control to know what's wrong and what needs modifying in the g code?

If you can, make a post in the CAM forum and markup what you need modified and someone will probably help you out. Start with something simple like a rectangular pocket and go from there. The last person I suggested this to wouldn't listen and wasted time trying to use a complicated 3d design

I dont know what to modify as the codes are very different to each other.

I guess I can try some simple 3d object and see the differences.

I did some thinking yesterday and need to clarify something. Thing is I dont want to edit the postproccess every time I post a job. I just need a gcode that would allow fusion to generate a job every time. Am I being difficult or just confused?

No not confusing. If you can come up with some simple G code examples that work on your control it should be possible to modify a post to give the same code. Can you program a simple rectangular cut around the outside of a box in artcam?

Something like this. This should only be 20 or 30 lines but give examples of arc format program start etc.

Just had a look at the Maxicam cnc web site and some of their machines use NC Studio as the control software, is that what you have? I it is there's a post available here, just start typing NC Studio.

tcam uses .con plus my machine doesnt read .nc according to my support guy from maxicam

The files are just text files and the extension can be changed. Sounds like the support guy doesn't know much about computers or is just being unhelpful. You can just edit the file name and change it to tap.

What is .con plus is that a mistype? And what's .cps and ar supposed to mean?

I did edit one job and changed the extension to tap however thats not the way I want the software to work if you know what I mean.

Sorry, some messy typing there...

cps as far as I'm aware is the extension of postprocceses I was able to find in fusion folder. When I looked for them in artcam folder all there was were just .con extensions

Look there's an old saying, you can't help those that won't help themselves! So far you've not helped yourself so how can I help you? It's simple to change the extension the post outputs but so far you haven't bothered to come up with any example G code, no G code manual for your machine, no info on any post processors you tried and what's wrong with the code. If you can't come up with more helpful information no one is going to be able to modify a post for you so you might as well give up.

I dont seem to able to reply with my answer... Do you know whats going on?
