Hi Pawel,

Thank you for your reply, I did try a motion study in the render environment, but couldn't seem to get it working with a transparent back ground that could be saved as video. If you could find a work around for either it would be great. I guess it is a trade off, the animation workspace would have more control of the animation, but obviously the render workspace gives a more photorealistic view of the model.

The only work around I can find is to move the model a small section at a time and then do a screen capture and tick the Transparent background option to save it as a PNG then put all these PNG's together, although this takes forever and you would have to save so many to get a smooth movement. I appreciate Fusion 360 is not an animation or video editing program so it probably isn't high on the developers list of upgrades, but it would be pretty cool and helpful if there were a way to do this.

I wonder whether if there is another program to do this in that is simple, as learning Blender is quite complex, just to create this.

Let's hope you find a secret glitch in the system that allows this, appreciate your help.

Jake

Hi all,

I want to rotate a rendered model in Fusion 360 with a transparent background so that I can put my own background behind it in my video editing software? is there a way to do this, before I have to take a crash course in Blender?

Surely this should be a feature if it isn't already?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Jake

As far as I know, transparent background is only available with the image capture command.

Hi @jakeq21,

thanks for posting! I am doing some research to find a workaround.

Could you clarify if you want to render a motion study from the Model / Design workspace or an animation from the Animation workspace?

Thanks!

Hi @jakeq21,

thanks for the reply! I tried to work around it with https://rendering.360.autodesk.com, however the transparent background option is indeed only available for images for now. It's a great idea for a future enhancement and I would like to encourage you to post it in our Fusion 360 Idea Station. Thank you in advance!

I reached out to my colleagues to figure out if there is a less tedious workaround than the one you found and will keep you posted, should we come up with an idea.

Best regards,

Hi Pawel,

Thank you very much for looking into this for me, I really appreciate it. Yes, it would be a great feature to have in this program and I'm sure lots of other people would love to use a feature like this. I will certainly post it in the Fusion 360 Idea Station.

Thanks again and have a great weekend!

Jake
