So I have most definitely not fixed the problem. Fusion is crashing very frequently and just running like a bag of crap in general.

My PC should be plenty powerful enough to do the very small stuff I'm doing. I would have thought I'd be good to model up to 500 parts.

I don't know.

😞

Hi,

Fusion keeps crashing on me now that my design is getting slightly larger and complicated. Still pretty small though, only four components.

I have done a clean reinstall of my NVIDIA drivers and of Fusion 360.

Open to any other suggestions.

Screenshot attached. This has happened probably over 20 times this weekend and I am unable to move forward with any of my work.

Regards,

Dan

I believe I have fixed the problem.

I should have gone to the Autodesk page first. Because the solution was right in front of me. I read it last night but was too tired and inexperienced to know where to change the setting.

I have enabled DirectX 9 in preferences and everything seems to be functioning as usual.

🙂

Good evening,

i am experiencing the same issue when tring to edit dimensions of a previously finished sketch. When I am working on a new sketch, it doesn't seem to be a problem. It also seems, only changes to certain constraints are critical, especially when the profile/contstraint is a dependency for a later operation, like e.g. an extrusion.

My personal guess would be, that the recalculation of dependend properties or parameters is somehow faulty.

Regards,

Steffen Eckardt

P.S.: I will attach a screencast as soon as it is uploaded and changed to public.

[edit] I see from the original image that you are editing sketch1 in "end frame drive end", but it would be good to know what specific operation you are trying in that sketch which fails. Are you adding a new dimension, editing an existing one, or what? Thanks.

Hi Jeff,

Sorry for the delay each time. I'm in Australia and Uni is on holidays, which means I only get to a computer once a day. Bear with me.

I went into my design and was able to crash the program straight away. Screenshot attached.

I was editing "End frame drive end:1". I clicked Create Sketch and then chose the face that is the mounting flange for where the stepper motor would mount. I created a circle then hit concentric and constrained it to the existing circle. Fusion really didn't like it when I did that. I'm not sure if I should be using the project feature when I do stuff like that? But I feel it should be able to predict what I'm trying to do there. Anyway, that's when it crashed.

Fusion stayed unresponsive for around five minutes and then came good.

Most of my problems have been through adding dimensions or constraints. Other than the problem above I can't recall precisely my other crashes. I will endeavour to take more notes and get back to you.

Cheers,

Dan

thanks, @sailordan.coyote . I'm able to reproduce a definite slow behavior in sketch. I don't see a crash, but it is slower than I would expect:

Does this accurately capture what you are seeing?

Hi Jeff,

Yes it is similar behaviour to what I am experiencing. But that's not it 100%. I wonder if your extra RAM helps Fusion power through those glitches whereas I get a half black screen and a crash.

I used Fusion for about two hours last night inside of the main design you have access to. I had one or two small crashes where I got the half black screen and then everything came good.

I spent the rest of the night modelling a different component and had no problems with Fusion other than my own clumsiness.

I'll keep you posted.
