Well I clicked yes and now it is constantly searching for the file. I downloaded Visual Studio Code but I'm not quite sure on how to use it.

Hi. Posted in this forum as it must be a bug.

I edited my post processor this morning, upon saving it it no longer worked. It was nothing I changed and I even changed it back to get it working to no avail. So I dug a little deeper and tried a few things and have found any post processor I attempt to open and save, whether I make any changes or not, will no longer work.

Why’s this happening?

I have tried using 'save as' in both brackets and notepad, manually adding the .cps extension (the way I have always successfully saved them). Renaming in the browser and adding the .cps extension. I also tried copying a generic standard post from installed posts to personal posts, tested it (it worked), then opened the same unedited post from installed post library, used 'save as' in brackets and overwritten the working copied version in personal posts, whereupon it stopped working.

I have also tried rebooting both Fusion 360 and the whole PC.

Right click > properties windows recognizes them all as a .cps file.

It’s saved in the normal personal post directory appdata>roaming>autodesk>fusion360 cam>posts

All my other posts are saved in this folder and still work just fine as do any posts I copy/paste into it without opening and saving, but any I try to open and save stop working.

Notice in the attached image, the dialogue box where all the options are is empty.

This is what I get when I try to go ahead and post the program:

Information: Reordering sections by tool.
Information: Total tool reordering time 00:00.003
Error: Failed to evaluate post configuration.
Code page changed to '1252 (ANSI - Latin I)'
Start time: Friday, 12 July, 2019 10:43:15 AM
Warning: function getProgramNameAsInt does not always return a value
Warning: function getProgramNameAsInt does not always return a value
Warning: function getProgramNameAsString does not always return a value

###############################################################################
Error: SyntaxError: invalid object initializer
Error at line: 108
Failed while processing global script.
###############################################################################

I've got it working.

After a fresh reinstall + using Visual Studio Code with the HSM post utility, I identified an error in the post, resaved and voila. I'm not sure if that was the cause or not but it doesn't explain why the unedited post would not save properly before.

Either way I'm up and running.

So I have reinstalled Fusion 360 and have that same saving issue. How do you continue forward to fix the problem exactly? Greatly appreciated!

Hello Ryan. I would recommend downloading Visual Studio Code with the hsm post extension. It will highlights any errors.

I don’t really know how I’d managed it but I’d somehow managed to save a subtle error to both the original installed post and my edited post which I didn’t notice myself without VSC clearly pointing it out to me. Probably too many open windows and confusion and frustration at it not working and not making sense!
