Hi Community,

I have a very strange behaviour that makes it hard to keep a design clean. I used to be able to just delete any feature in the timeline (I am aware of difference between delete and remove).

In the past "delete" was allways an option that worked to completly remove something from a design (of course causing errors and wardning down the timeline if other things referred to the deleted feature).

Just recently this seems to have changed:

When trying to right click and "delete" a timeline feature in many cases now the feature does not get "deleted" but gets "removed" including the "remove" timeline feature at the end (eventhough the warning displays the "remove" as "A Delete feature will be added to the timeline")

Here is what I get in pictures:

With this being the warning (see also the remove icon at end of timeline)

How do I now delete features with that behaviour from the timeline?

Was there a change in how this is intended to work?

As far as I can tell it is a different problem than the one described here under a very similar heading.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/certain-features-in-timeline-can-t-be-deleted/m-p/8730596/highlight/false

yes, this is a different scenario. If there are multiple instances of a component, and you try to delete one of those instances (either by deleting the timeline entry for the component creation feature, or from the browser), this will get translated into a Remove feature. This is intentional, to prevent accidentally deleting all instances of the component, when that may not be your intention. If a component has only one instance (or, when you Delete the last instance), Delete should completely delete that component and all its features

Hi @jeff_strater ,

I do understand the intention behind it but the way it is implemented is very confusing:

- delete action turns into remove action with an error of "delete action is added to timeline"

- if delete should be prohibited why not make it a popup to extra confirm the action as is also the case for other features that have other features rely on them later in timeline (or make delete inactive in that context menu)

- it is not consistent, when having multiple instance of same component from pattern it is possible to delete the first one (resulting in removing all instances as is logical for a pattern)

So at the very least a more understandable error/warning message would be highly appreciated.

OK, I'll buy that. I created FUS-52706 to track at least issuing a warning or message when this situation occurs
