My Fusion 360 has updated recently to version 2.0.6503 (Mac), and since doing so all of my custom threads have disappeared from within the application.

My custom XML files are still in Macintosh HD> Users> Username > Library > Application Support > Autodesk > Webdeploy > production >Version specific ID > Libraries > Applications > Fusion > Fusion > Server > Fusion > Configuration >ThreadData but all of the original Fusion 360 thread XML files have gone.

I can still select the Fusion 360 threads, just not my own.

Hi @Anonymous ,

If you search through webdeploy>production>specific IDS can you find it there? These specific ID's change throughout each update and its possible it did not carry over. It may still be located in one of these folders.

Thanks,

Hi James,

Thank you for responding. The ID within the webdeploy folder is the same as it was for the previous build. If you look at the screenshot I have attached, the folder contains 2 x XML files that I put in there. Before this update, all of the Fusion 360 thread XML files were in that folder too.

Not only mine disappeared, Fusion is only loading 3 Threads styles. I cannot find where it is loading them because I tried changing those files and it just has no effect. So if fusion is loading these 3 thread style then where are they built in because it makes no sense why is loading these only there must be another location or maybe they are within some obscure DLL somewhere.

IF you get the syntax wrong inside the XML file you're stuck only with the 3 thread types. even if only one XML file is affected. Fusion discards the files and defaults to only threads, ACME, AFBMA.... , and ANSI Metric M Profile. Probably these are the built in threads within some DLL file somewhere.

I would really like Fusion team to pay a bit of attention to this. After nearly every update, i am loosing my PG threads file. Basically, every time i need PG threads, i have to figure out in whitch coded folder is my file and into which coded folder to move them. More annoying it is because need only 3 of them: PG7, PG9, PG11.

I have made an add-in for Fusion 360 called ThreadKeeper that let's you open the thread folder with a button. It also has a feature to automatically restore the thread definitions after a Fusion 360 update.

App store (Only Windows version at the moment): https://apps.autodesk.com/en/Publisher/PublisherHomepage?ID=JLH9M8296BET

Github (Windows and Mac BETA): https://github.com/thomasa88/ThreadKeeper/blob/master/README.md

The App is A good Idea.

What I did, was to create a symbolic link to another location so I oved the threads away from that folder completely to have them in one common location where they would be backed up on a non computer system drive in case of computer failure. So I do not have to keep two copies and update two copies. Ideally Fusion would have this feature for all these custom threads figured out by now. However a novice like I was would not know what to do in the initial installation.

That's smart! Does Fusion follow a directory symlink inside ThreadData or
do you symlink the whole ThreadData directory?

I can't believe you all still haven't made it easier to use custom threads. Bad enough you have to drop an XML file into some buried folder deep in bowels of fusion application. But to make us redo this everytime you update? And on a Mac, there's 20 or more versions of old updates with no way to tell which is the new update that's being used. This is competely untenable. After this new update I can't even figure out where to put the file. Where it shoudl go isn't working so I'm left without being able to use PG9 threads... There should be a simple way to use custom threads, not this non-sense and this has been going on for YEARS without being addressed. Seriously considering dropping Fusion and moving to Solidworks.
