The reason the hobby license changed was because there were too many people abusing the free version and using it commercially. What are Autodesk supposed to do, just ignore it and lose business? If all people were honest it wouldn't have happened, complaining about it is pretty much a waste of time, it's not AutoDesk that caused the problem.

You can use GrabCad to convert the files. You might now say well if I can do the conversion then import why take away the feature. Well if you were running a business and needed to convert several files a day you wouldn't want to waste time with grabcad, it would save time and money paying for a Fusion license.

As for a local translator, there's a good chance AutoDesk license the libraries that do the translation so they would have to charge for locally installed translators.

When I drop or open files from my computer into the fusion upload window, everything appear to work, but after the files are "uploaded" I can't open them in Fusion. There is no thumbnail photo by the file like there was in the past. If I double click on the file, the fusion website opens and shows me what appears to be an edrawing model, but that's it.

There is no way to open or work with any models or assemblies from Soldworks within the Fusion environment.

Years ago I uploaded a complicated assembly and it worked flawlessly. I just figured out how to get my computer to download and run Fusion again, but now the conversion part won't work. Thank you, Terry.

What licence do you have for Fusion? The personal\hobby version does not have access to cloud translators so can not open Solidworks files.

When did this change, and is it a sign of things to come? I've always been on the free plan, and in september 2019 I was able to upload and translate Solidworks files.

Thanks!

But removing features "To provide the best experience for the Fusion 360 communities" is a load of ...

With the proliferation of grabcad, 3dcontentcentral etc it makes little sense to limit file formats unless to limit over all use. If cloud translating is a issue move it to my machine, I can wait.

I completely agree I rather not even waste their sever time I have a personal server and my main machine I use is plenty powerful worse case walk away for a while it doesn't bother me.

I can't justify paying thousands of dollars for a feature its crazy, specially when I'm using this for things around the house and my hobby. If they would let you buy it for personal use with all the features but again only Personal that would be great, at a reasonable price that would be great.

I did some investigation on solving that problem, finally it brings me here~~~

I agree with what AutoDesk did, to remove some features from personal version per their decision, that does protect the interests of those users who paid for it, but you did too much. How about 10 solidworks parts per month limit?

Someone will say, who does care that? Users can always find other free option if they don't want to pay for it. Indeed, AutoDesk is not the only CAD software manufacturer in this world. That makes me thinking of what GPL contribute to the computer world, we call that ‘Great!' Will there be a branch like that which prompts technology iteration?

The question is what is the significance of the personal version for fusion 360 right now, awkward!

My buddy will say:" Uninstall it right now, go back to use your **** solidworks until find other substitution, we have already paid lot on that." But I love autodesk, although can not afford it.
