How a part is modeled and how that same part is dimensioned on a print for validation (measurement) has very little, if any, relevance to each other. So I'm not sure what your point is.

Any method used to model the exact same final part would yield the exact same flat pattern. It has no effect on bend allowance calculations.

sheet metal bend radius bug?

I've attached a sheet metal part that I've noticed some strange behavior of.

My desire is for all bend radius' to be the same, in this case 3/16". However, when I use the symmetric thickness option, things get silly. One radius is .1875 and the other is .2812. It's only when I use the side1 or side2 thickness option that I get the desired consistent .1875 bend radius.

I only use function that I can physically measure (Side1 or 2, defining the outside/inside of the physical part).

I never use the "midplane" in creating sheet metal parts, given that I cannot physically measure to this imaginary location and have no idea how bend allowance is being calculated for the flat pattern. (I guess I could figure it out, but too lazy.)
