I import a fairly simple assembly, and it shows in the data panel, but when I try to open it, it will only open in the web browser, not F3D.

I also get this error when I try to "add to offline cache"

I'm probably just making a big beginner error. Can anyone give me a hint?

I'm using the free version

SW assy and part files are on local computer. tried to upload in project on desktop. but instead of recognizing the assy, it brings them in as individual parts in the project and the assy won't open, only the parts.

so I went on the web version, and uploaded and it recognizes the assy, and child parts as expected; and I can view the assy on line, and it shows on the desktop, but when I click on it, it opens it every time in the browser version.

If I manually set to cache to local computer, I get the download error, shared in previous post.

Also, my brother has a separate paid account and he was able to import it by importing on the desktop version so the SW files should not be the problem.

thank you for the response. if i am understanding correctly my issue is due to limitations with the free version? is this correct? it seemed strange to me since i received an download error message. if it was a limitation of the free version i expected it would have given.a message to the fact as opposed to an error.

Based on your comment, it would seem the free version doe not support SW imports. However, last week I was able to get a solid works assembly to I’m/convert correctly. Did I get lucky that one time? Or did they change policy recently?

is there someplace where we can understand the limitations of free vs paid? All I’ve been able to find is that they say they are identical.

This issue is still alive and well - and a great way to loose potential new customers of your software! The link provided does say the startup / educational user license supports solidworks assemblies import, however I am experiencing the same issues of it not be recognized and usable outside of the webapp interface visualizer. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!
